  • The dumb part is certain people are now trying to bring up the cases of rape that did happen as some sort of gotcha to claim the NYT report was accurate (see the Reddit /r/news thread about the UN envoy statement right now).

When that wasn't the issue with Anat Schwartz' article in the first place. The claim was never that no instances of rape happened, we know they did, there's video of it. The issue was her claim that sexual violence was an explicit part of Hamas' strategy and goal on October 7th, which was completely unsubstantiated by her and the others involved. They, in fact, couldn't find any evidence of the sort to back up the claim, but still reported the claim as accurate anyways.

Hamas is an evil terrorist group, but that doesn't mean we should just open-faced accept pretty obvious propaganda and lies about them. The truth matters, especially in conflicts like this.

  • This is why conservatives should stop stoking rage politics. Because it puts them in a position where they can't immediately tell which side is trying to kill them. Because it could be anyone for a plethora of potential reasons.

  • Except this is about the primary. How is not voting for him in the primary matter? Honestly, the fact that the Democrat party in places like Florida just got rid of the primary so none of the challengers could be voted for is...dumb to me.

I might hate most of the other people running, since they're largely anti-vaccine pseudoscience conspiracy types, but people should still be allowed to vote in the primary.

  • But...they don't? Their mainline games are always a few years apart (with the exception of Bloodborne, which they had a separate team doing concurrently).

Unless you're referring to the other games they publish that no one really knows about or comments on? I don't think Metal Wolf Chaos XD, Déraciné, or Monster Hunter Diary: Poka Poka Airou Village DX should really factor into the discussion.

  • I just went and checked some studies on the matter. 70% of fertilized eggs fail to go to further embryonic stages and 85% of those are because of uterine wall implantation complications. So, the answer is right in between us, it's 60%.

  • It's massively important in the sciences, both for computing purposes and theoretical design and investigation purposes.

AI is completely revolutionizing genetics research and subjects like biochemistry and pharmacology, because it's able to extrapolate from already identified genes and compounds and find new ones or identify the purposes of genes just from their sequence structure.

It's made processes that would take weeks or months just to identify a single new component to something that takes days or hours.

  • This guy seems like the type that pretends to be on the left, but will switch to the Republicans at the first sign of trouble. He is absolutely hated by his entire left-leaning constituency. Including by all his city reps you can see in the video, their faces clearly show they think he's an idiot.

  • Not sure why anything JPost says about Gaza or the West Bank is believable in the slightest. We have so many, many examples of them blatantly lying about anything and everything in the past.

But, of course, the retraction is much less noticed as compared to the original fake claim.

  • Hamas was not the one that killed her. And they weren't using her as a shield whatsoever. Israel killed her AND targeted the ambulance they were fully aware was coming to save her, since they agreed to let it go and get her, but then killed the paramedics when they got there.

  • The interesting thing about this is that Israel (and all of the IDF defenders across the internet) has been categorically denying that anything of this sort happened at all and have actively been calling it a conspiracy theory pushed by Hamas supporters.

Now that we have active proof it happened at least this one time, it calls into question their denial about other such claimed incidents, such as that the IDF had their helicopters just fire at anyone and everyone on the ground at the concert.

It really does seem like they went full Hannibal Doctrine.

  • First one: Oxidative stress biomarkers, ie caused by most things and also are largely irrelevant? Biomarkers don't actually correlate to actual risk increases in themselves.

Second one: High long term exposure, ie being consistently doused in the stuff somehow, And is looking at meta-risk, so not actual risk of cancer development. Also, the 41% even therein is based on risk increase from the original numbers, not an absolute increase. Meaning the actual risk went from something akin to 0.4% over a lifetime to 0.55%. And this only applies to someone who has massive exposure repeatedly over a long period of time.

Third one: Has nothing to do with science or evidence of any kind. Judges in courts don't know anything about science, hence why scientific experts and organizations actually research this stuff.

Fourth one: Is likely referencing studies already covered in #2, which again relies on actually understanding what the 41% is referring to.

In short, a lot of media fearmongering about science would be less effective if the general public understood statistics better.
