Yeah it's not the worst idea in theory but implementation needs to be perfect. Even if they don't allow token transfers I feel like this will make power users even more powerful without some kind of forced regulation. A repost bot could get the lion's share of tokens and take over governance.
I could see this happening when they are babies though. Like 6 weeks in Bob becomes Tom and Tom becomes Bob and you might never know. I don't think that would be harmful at such a young age though.
"Sometimes I get really excited when I see a friend and don't realize I'm blocking the way." That's how people think. No malice. I hope this helps you see another way to read a slight inconvenience instead of Ultra Gigachad Malice Narcissist Blocker 5000.
Hey man if you want to read every interaction in the worst possible light that's on you. I think most people aren't some narcissistic machine invented to inflict maximum social damage to poor little 6'5" guys.
I mean isn't that true for literally every user that doesn't pay? I'm not sure why we are mad at Sync users when we don't even have a strong call to action to donate to instances.
Such a weird take. Just say excuse me or I need to get through. Very easy. People aren't mind readers and they aren't purposely trying to make your life harder.
Digg refugee from back then. The amount of people coming over wasn't as significant as we see today. But yes there were lots of posts about how to use Reddit, tools to make Reddit look prettier or more like Digg. Diggers found the subreddit subscription confusing. Literally all the posts we see today from Redditors coming to Lemmy.
I haven't seen a single call to action to donate to Lemmy other than the static sidebar on desktop. Something like that would be far more helpful than complaining about previous Sync users continuing to donate to Sync. Nothing is being taken from Lemmy, Sync already had a big user base and is bringing many of them over here thanks to the app. Let's call to action to them to donate to instances instead of complaining.
