  • I really hope 1 and 2 both pass. I always vote on election day because I like the ceremony of it. Unfortunately I got so sick yesterday into today that I can't even stand for more than a couple minutes without feeling like I'm gonna pass out. Maybe I'll start early voting now.

  • Insight global is an alright company if you go the contracting route. They were one of the few that would actually get involved when there were issues with the client.

Contracting is tough right now with the limited options and the very volatile market, at least in the US. I'm about to be unemployed at the end of November unless I can find something.

Financial institutions are very regulated and it is usually a pretty solid job to have - I did 5 years at JPMC and 2 at Huntington. But beware they'll fuck you over if you ever refuse to toe the line or want an actual work life balance.

  • I miss old NL before he was always interacting with twitch chat. I get why he made the move, and I like a lot of his newer content, but I feel like he was funnier when he was just bullshitting to himself

  • I'd guess that it's running under a different user. You can find the user executing it and provide the key to that user via copying it to their ssh directory, or by using an identity file option for your command.

Although now that I think of it, I'd create a separate key and provide that public key to keep it separate from your user account.

  • One of the biggest medical interventions for COVID was intubation. Having experienced unilateral vocal cord paralysis after being intubated for surgery and days after due to complications of the procedure - you really want to avoid it if possible. It took surgery and 18 months for me to speak normally again.

I'll take feeling crummy for a few days with low risk of actual harm to avoid that happening again.

  • There are two less extreme medications for alcohol abuse prevention. Naltrexone -also used for opiate cravings, and Campril. Naltrexone also blocks effects of alcohol without making you violently ill, but speaking from experience, enough alcohol can overcome the effect.

I can't speak to Campril much because it gave me horrible side effects and I had to stop taking it pretty much immediately.

  • To me it doesn't matter. Having worked in kitchens, we're usually trying to get a head start on cleaning 15 minutes to close. I just think it's rude to order that close to closing time.
