Doubt that'll happen. The ruling class of Russian federation permits some small nostalgia for the USSR, as it is pretty difficult to disassociate the achievements of Russia from the Soviet Union. Make no mistake though, they're trying. So while they are forced to tolerate communist imagery within Russia, I don't see them restoring it outside. Too risky. People might start asking questions.
Of course I could be wrong, as I often am, and they will do it, and try to associate the Soviet era with national pride. There's been calls to return the red banner as state flag, after all. But generally, I doubt it
Fascists with nukes and a gigantic military, filled with bloodied murderers, that's been in one "anti insurgency" operation or another non stop for the past 70 years. Lovely
Having read all your other comment, I will now ask. What is your solution? You say socialism can't solve racism. Okay, let's go from there. What can solve it? How do we get rid of ISMs? How do we deal with the aforementioned christofascists? How do we stop the scapegoating of LGBTQ, BIPOC, women and elderly?
Luckily Russian forces are already in neighboring countries suppressing western backed Jihadists and safeguarding stability, and Niger could invite the Russians to do the same for them, preempting any kind of Western ploy to destabilize the situation
Weren't they already in Niger? And supporting the now ousted president? That was the impression I got from the news
with the help of China
Did China announce their position regarding the situation already?
Moscow got attacked with UAVs last night. Supposedly they got intercepted and jammed, but this resulted in them crashing into the business district. No casualties have been reported.
When liberal tolerance runs out and “I’m one of the good ones” doesn’t work anymore
This always makes me wonder about people from USSR who emigrated to the west. Especially those who emigrated from modern Russian federation not for economic, but for political reasons. What do they think will happen? Do they think they'll be exempt from the lynch mobs and purges, because of some magical "liberal democracy"? Do they honestly believe repressions "only happen in barbaric countries"?
I used to know this guy, went to the same school, one year my senior. Emigrated to USA awhile ago, got a coding job. Supposedly well paid too. When SMO hit, he was out there on the streets of Seattle with a "I'm ashamed to be Russian" banner. Doubly amusing (in a sad way) since the guy is of Jewish ancestry and was likely not even considered "Russian" while he lived here. Wonder if he'll get a lightbulb moment when the mob comes
