Handheld ones? Asking because the TOS-1 has been used plenty in the war, and while it's likely classified as an MLRS by the west, it's called "heavy flamethrower system" in Russian.
Ayup. It's something I've been wondering a lot in regards to Russian empire and USSR. Both in terms of pure economical development and in terms of national representation.
Warning: hot take incoming.
If you look at surnames of the Empire's ruling classes, what the media is now trying to call "elite", you'll notice a lot of Polish and German names. Conversely, if you look at RSFSR leadership, it's largely Russian or Ukrainian surnames. Also plenty of Jewish names in science and technology (daily reminder that Jews were legally deprecated in the Empire). In the republics you see a surge of local surnames.
So if anything, the Soviets had done more for Russian nationalism than actual, self described "Russian nationalists".
I mean, have you seen what was done with industry in former USSR? They used to make lasers in the Baltics. Lasers! Now they're buying kitty litter for fuel.
There was a time when I would run away from the stupidity of real life to the virtual - internet, video games, books, even comics. Nowadays, I am more and more often pressed to run away from the stupidity of the virtual and into the embrace of the real. Except real life has only gotten more stupid and disappointing with years. There's nowhere left run
"Because North Korea is ebil and aggressive and wants to invade and eat all the puppies!" - would be the usual response. Source: my colleague is a koreaboo
Am I drunk or is there literally just one (1) git arguing that "it's totally not what it seems"? I guess the other downvooters don't have anything to say. Truth hurts, I suppose.
That would give the yanks an actual pretext for an invasion, unfortunately
