  • Thanks! This explains a few things... But not why Android is IGNORING my DNS pushed via DHCP even if private DNS is disabled...

  • It's blatantly ignoring the DNS i set via DHCP it seems. Only if i set it manually (static) it will use it! I have no subnets

  • Private DNS is disabled.

And even ping from tmux fails...

  • Latest build had issues with a few models due to a selinx issue.

Flashing an older build should work tough. Try flash a selinux-permissive zip from recovery maybe, that should let you boot.

Next week build will fix the issue I am sure, but you should join the lineageos reddit channel or the discord server.

  • Garmin. They have been churning out better and better stuff over the years. Its pricey, indeed, but both hardware and software quality is top.

Been using the Fenix 7 Sapphire Solar watch, which has amazing battery life, amazing sensors, top hardware quality overall and software is perfect for the job. Screen too is amazing (MIPS, not Amoled...).

Also using bike computer and radar (Edge+Varia), where battery life could be better, but easy to remediate.

There are competitors, but at the same price point I wouldn't ever give up in Garmin for them.

  • Go Garmin. Not only they are actual USEFULL, a lot more open even if they have a custom OS, and battery actually last like one or two weeks...

    They are also very durable

  • Install some DNS test app for Android and check that it does get resolved.

My will resolve the home server address to 0.0.0.0, and I get the same network error.

  • I have a very similar issue. Seems like Android will bypass your DNS resolver and thus cannot resolve your local names.

I have my home services on "home.my domain.com" accessible from outside and re-mapped to "192.168.0.1" (my internal server IP) at home, and all PCs can access it while all android phones can only resolve to the public IP.

I feel it's something related to DoT or similar but haven't yet dig in that.

  • Almost 50. Most of (back pain, muscle pain, articulary pains...) my "age" issues have been cured (well, improved...) By an highly active sport life. Think of -daily- activity, not walks, but mixing running and swimming actively. It took one years or so, but I feel 38 again. The trick is NEVER stop, keep doing sport never let more that one or two days pass by without at least 1h run or 1h swim. Get proper clothes and shoes, RUN PROPERLY, and be very progressive not to injure your ligaments.

(Except for those small prints, I swear they used to write them bigger... And small cuts healing that still take ages...)

Also, my memory has improved. Maybe it's all the time I can let my mind free while swimming or running... And indeed my stress levels have dropped.

  • I vote for public votes. Your comments, history and activity is already public, what can you gain from "hidden" votes as much as privacy?

  • Been using USB since forever. I have one USB3 jbod with four SSDs (2 RAID1 + 2 RAID1) and an USB-C double enclosure with two spinning disks (RAID1 as well)

Setup is running flawless since 2016 at the very least, but I was using USB even before that timeframe.

All the RAIDs are Linux software RAID.

  • As codecs go, I love AV1. More and more hardware support everywhere, it seems more future proof than h265 even at this point.

Rip at native DVD resolution and don't forget ALL the audio tracks, as many English users always forget about the rest of the world.

  • Work is work.

Is sex work selling your body? Is doing masonry carpentry or road fixing work anything less than that?

Is sex work ethical? Is working for a weapon manufacture ethical?

I think the point on sex work is a different one: exploitation. That is wrong and should not be allowed or tolerated. But is it avoidable?

The focus should not be on the sex workers tough, but on the clients. The sex workers will always be there as long as there is demand for them.

So, yes, give sex workers the opportunity to work in a safe and not abused environment, so that it can be a choice like any other work. Which means, legalize, regulate, and so on.

  • My guess you had broken cables or defective connectors. Because even on cat5 (not cat5e) you should get much more than 7mbit, or did you have coaxial? LoL.

In my experience 90% are plugs, specially if you crimped yourself with Chinese tools

  • Ext4 on every Linux device.

Ah i dont have any other kind of devices (android on mobile, but there I have no choices on fs)

Why not btrfs? Don't know, been using what has kept working flawlessly for me for the last 20+ years, no need to replace ext4.

  • Had the same issues, it was heat.

Cool down your server, add a fan or a cooler...

I added a usb-powered fan sucking cooler air from outside the server area directly blowing it on the chassis.

    That fixed for me.

  • I can understand pedantic when referring to language, spelling and grammar...

Bit honestly, in English? It's probably the most fluid language in the world today... Spoken so differently all around the globe... Always evolving and surprising....

No I am not a native English speaker, but I am sometimes pedantic on my mother language with my kids... So... :)

  • Not trying to win anything. But isn't the music the art from the artist? Do usually the artist also design the covers and albums themselves?

  • You want to purchase a vibration of the air?

    a sound?

I understand why you want a physical object to hold, but owning the music to me means no DRM, then the bits are mine and I can do whatever I want with them.

Indeed go buy posters, lyrics, any physical item you want from your band. Caps, cups, t-shirts, any form of art.

But I still don't see a reason for CDs. Then buy vinyls, at least the art is far bigger!
