Maybe some applications like these could need a high density just for the size of it, but then again you're not likely to be looking from a living room distance either. Or things like VR where you're looking from very close up.
My biggest screen is a 55" 4K and I just don't get why you would need much more unless it was a full on theater setup.
Trolling would pretty well have to be giving it to undeserving people just to piss someone off. I would get a laugh out of all the uproar it'll cause in the red hat circles though if I ever frequented their spaces. Clinton & Soros particularly.
If it works as a basic post bot I guess there's something to that, just seems and odd extra step when you're already using a phone/computer that likely already has some kind of weather widget built in.
In my org a lot of it can come down to having someone to demand fixes from. If something becomes a critical component of the workflows there has to be someone with an enforceable SLA held over them to get things fixed when needed.
If I'm not too far gone in understanding the attitudes of kids, chances are that most of them would simply ignore this kind of bullshit and let their peers use whatever room they like. It'll put on a show for the slobbering masses that fret over it and nothing more.
Similar to why a recording of classic films are important. They serve as cultural touchpoints connecting individual experiences from a time and place long past. We retell stories from written literature for centuries and those are relatively difficult to preserve historically where video games are just a matter of storing a ROM on some file system
