  • A absolute realtime list is pretty well impossible since first a new one would have to be noticed by other peers, but this is a decent site to search through.

  • You think the company doesn't have the ability to curate the notes allowed by the community or to farm their own? It's always possible for a site owner to shape the messages on the site, even if it comes to a point of direct database manipulation.

  • Non-lawyer but...

If a jury comes to a conclusion then the defendant is not guilty then it's game over. A mistrial had to be called before deliberation happen, and that would have to have some material misconduct during the trial, not just 'I think we gonna lose'. A guilty verdict could be appealed but that appeal is only to decide if the case was conducted fairly (for a retrial request) or to assess the validity of a sentence.

Basing it off some time I did a lot of legal/court adjacent work for a few years, but I'm pretty sure that's right.

  • You can bet there was some more tolerance for it when there was some guilt for office workers staying at home while service roles had to stay on site during the height of covid.

The fact that so many point of sale make it a default thing to put it directly out there for someone to tip before any service is done and with that decision in view of everyone around doesn't sit well either

  • When George Floyd was murdered they had a battalion n of police outside of the killer's house to protect him. Why can't they do the same here using the national guard if needed?

  • So something similar to some of the Catholic practices about meat during lent, not a true law, but a rule dictated by the church. It just happens that if the church and state are functionally one entity, as is my impression for a lot of countries in that region, then it may as well be considered law.

    Fairly accurate?

  • I'm guessing it might be thought of like when people say 'ATM machine'. If Sharia where to be translated as 'religious law' then it would stand to reason that Sharia law could be translated as 'religious law law'.

Just some speculation on it though, I don't speak a bit of any language in the region.

  • That too I suppose. I seem to recall the feature coming out not too long after all the CSAM issues, so liability for that always stuck in my mind.

  • Never had one leak, usually it's the wick or heating elements that get crusty. Or if you have the cool mist type, everything in the room gets a dusting.

A lot of it usually comes from things like Calcium or Limestone and can be pretty readily cleaned off with some vinegar.

Image proxy is what I suspect you mean. The problem with that from an instance admin is that on the network level it would them show their instance accessing whatever content their users request which then puts the owner at risk, so I believe most never enabled it. If an owner set up an instance with a particularly strong opsec game though where their outbound connections where routed over a VPN or TOR that could be useful to censored countries. Might make for an interesting project...

  • I blame DEI for making the fragile minded folks associated with maga have such terrible distressing thoughts about not being the single group of people who matter. Reality bubbles are such delicate things after all.

  • Makes sense, and would give some explanation for the lack of a year 0 of it was counted as 'the first year of'.

Handy then that the more recent secular take of BCE (before current era) makes some of those discrepancies for when an individual was born a moot point.

  • Here I was always under the impression that AD was 'after death' in the religious world and BC was 'before christ'. Which would then make the years when the guy was walking around a sort of uncounted void in the timelines I guess.

  • Yeah, that's the time I start jumping over the seat to pull a brake or something. Needs to be a hardware kill switch in the passenger reach here, no calling in or hoping some app works.

  • The problem here is that we replaced all the world's actual intelligence with artificial intelligence and now we're not sure what to do with it, but I really want some Brawndo...

  • I really should get a Facebook account, it seems like a pre-rec to deleting it in disgust...

  • Would be a shame of Jack where to retain a copy of the report without permission, just in case the DOJ misplaced it in the next few years.

  • Perhaps so, but with the way our system holds onto precedent for reference in the future even a pointless conviction saying the president doesn't have absolute immunity is important to the future. That could be pointed to the next time a Trump-esq sort comes in and starts such BS and used in a new trial or impeachment.

Basically, even if it doesn't do anything to him personally, it could set a guardrail for future years.

  • Dismissed, but not with prejudice as I recall so it's still possible to take the findings and bring a case again for the same charges. If they're released now at least it makes it more difficult for them to get 'lost' by the incoming DOJ and could be used in the future.
