  • He's always been awful (he got famous in Canada by making wild claims about bill C-16 when all it really did was add gender identity to the list of protected classes for the purposes of human rights legislation) but he definitely got worse after his trip to Russia.

He talks a lot about personal responsibility but when it came time to kick his benzo addiction, instead of taking personal responsibility and dealing with the withdrawal symptoms, he tried to convince his doctors to put him into an induced coma. They refused because they didn't think it was safe or ethical, so he flew to Russia where it's easier to find doctors who are less picky about safety and ethics. I'm convinced the coma gave him brain damage because he's been way more unhinged ever since.

  • Star Trek VI captured a very specific moment in time in the real world. It's a direct allegory for the end of the cold war, with all the mistrust and hope that came along with that. People usually rank it below IV and II but there's a big gap between the top 3 and the rest.

  • Tame compared to some of the other stories here but the Motel 6 across from Disney World in Florida when I was visiting for a high school trip. I noticed that the soles of my feet were all black and assumed it was because I'd been walking around in the parking lot in bare feet. Turns out it was actually the carpet in the room. I wore my shoes in the room for the rest of my stay.

  • Windwaker had a ton of content cut. The ice island and fire island were both supposed to be full dungeons. Both of those incomplete dungeons later ended up being used in Twilight Princess.

::: spoiler Tap for spoiler Hyrule Castle was supposed to be a full dungeon. :::

The tower of the gods was supposed to be longer.

  • The seasoning on cast iron is polymerized oil and it's chemically bonded to the iron. You're only really going to be removing the seasoning if you're using abrasives or scrubbing too hard with steel wool or something like that.

Any loose bits of black gunk that are coming off while you're cleaning it with a sponge or a scrubby are just burnt food.

  • In North America, Christmas lights usually have a plug end and a socket end so you can connect multiple strings together in series.

If you accidentally put the plug end at the top of the tree, it might be tempting to try to buy or make one of these cords so you don't have to take the lights down and redo them.

It is as dumb and lazy as it sounds.

  • I'm not sure if this is universally true but I've never seen a fully electric vehicle that uses motor oil. Hybrid vehicles with an internal combustion engine and an electric drive train would still need it, of course.

Not having to take my car for oil changes is bliss.

  • I've heard several horror stories from friends about bringing cars to Canadian Tire.

They forgot to put oil in the car after an oil change.

They somehow managed to put a wheel bearing in backwards.

They claimed the lock nut key for the tires was missing when it was in plain view in the glove compartment and they had been told where to find it. They wanted to charge to cut off the lock nuts, which is a common garage scam.

  • I wasn't into Megas XLR but it was part of cartoon Fridays when I was in school and probably belongs in this list.

You can't list Oblongs, Undergrads, and Clone High without mentioning Mission Hill.

Chilly Beach is probably a deep cut for non-Canadians. I most often saw it described as Canadian South Park.

I'm not sure if it counts as obscure but Invader Zim also aired around this time.

Going back a bit further, there was Duckula, where the latest in a line of vampiric ducks was resurrected using ketchup instead of blood and became a vegetable vampire.

Attack of the Killer Tomatoes was made into a cartoon of questionable suitability for children.
