  • My mandatory Sky: Children of the Light mention.

Lots of exploring and cooperating with irl co-players (E: you'd have to play on different devices, but one could play on a big screen, and the other can join and use their handheld mostly as a controller) and strangers, some puzzles/quests, some mild scary/dangerous parts, lots of lore, incredible graphics and good soundtrack. It's an open ended game (though some features only become available after your first complete run through) and there is an aspect of grinding if you want to get IGC for cosmetics but you're doing it flying through this gorgeous landscape, and there is a daily cap so you can be pretty chill about it, and IAP are pretty easy to avoid (for me anyway) and are never necessary for gameplay.

There are some issues with bugs, and the company growing and decisions clearly being made by shareholders rather then developers, but at this point it is still absolutely worth playing.

  • I don't have the app, but actually looked at it on my pc the other day after someone mentioned it in the comments to another post, with full intention to go out and have a look, but my brain is like a sieve.. 😂

Thanks though, I'll give the app a look

  • Adding my vote for Ellen Ripley.

There are others that come to mind from more obscure movies I've watched more recently, like the women in Grandma (2015), Never Rarely Sometimes Always (2020), and even Men (2022), also non-fictional women like those in Kokomo City (2023). There are so many more I can picture in my mind but can't put my finger on the movie and or am just shit with names so I can't think of them right now, but might come back to update.

  • But don’t worry it’s not like ‘you’ will ever be poor or elderly so you shouldn’t care about health coverage for those groups.

Spot on. This person isn't playing devils advocate, they're playing self defence of their own cognitive dissonance.

  • What the actual fuck is wrong with the people we give power to.

Change that to "why the fuck do we have to keep picking others to have power over our own lives?" and you might start getting somewhere.

    Power corrupts.

Capitalism and its electoral politics (the extra steps it has taken from feudalism, that is nothing more than theatre to appease the masses) has always existed to concentrate, and then maintain, power in the hands of a few. Once someone has such power they will never give it up willingly.

As long as there is hierarchy, there will be inequality. Which is why our system enforces hierarchy so avidly.

  • This is a very bare minimum start.

Next they need to reach in to their own fucking pockets to not only fix their outdated and unfit for purpose infustructure, and clean up the ungodly mess they've made, but also reimburse the taxpayer for the damage they've caused to our common waterways and supply.

Then once they're done paying, nationalise the motherfuckers.
