You're new to autism, aren't you lol
On a more serious note, this is something I needed long before I knew why or what it was called. A couple of decades later, I do indeed know the term, and the reason why I prefer deep pressure to light touch (autism related sensory processing disorder), though I'm sure it isn't the only reason people need/prefer it.
Either way, if you genuinely want to hear more personal experiences from people who are more likely to know about and have practice with theses techniques, post over on one of the autism communities.
but I am worried.
About what? An open and unashamed fascist dying in old age??
Oh, no, the unimaginable tragedy!!!11 🙄
No, and while less food waste is a positive, from what I can find even in France it is only illegal for fresh food retailers (who are only responsible for 14% of waste, and also get massive tax breaks for the pleasure of donating it), not manufacturers (agriculture, processing plants, restaurants, collectively responsible for at least 67% of waste), and for insight in to why, here is an excerpt from 1939 book The Grapes of Wrath:
“The works of the roots of the vines, of the trees, must be destroyed to keep up the price, and this is the saddest, bitterest thing of all. Carloads of oranges dumped on the ground. The people came for miles to take the fruit, but this could not be. How would they buy oranges at twenty cents a dozen if they could drive out and pick them up? And men with hoses squirt kerosene on the oranges, and they are angry at the crime, angry at the people who have come to take the fruit. A million people hungry, needing the fruit- and kerosene sprayed over the golden mountains. And the smell of rot fills the country. Burn coffee for fuel in the ships. Burn corn to keep warm, it makes a hot fire. Dump potatoes in the rivers and place guards along the banks to keep the hungry people from fishing them out. Slaughter the pigs and bury them, and let the putrescence drip down into the earth.
There is a crime here that goes beyond denunciation. There is a sorrow here that weeping cannot symbolize. There is a failure here that topples all our success. The fertile earth, the straight tree rows, the sturdy trunks, and the ripe fruit. And children dying of pellagra must die because a profit cannot be taken from an orange. And coroners must fill in the certificate- died of malnutrition- because the food must rot, must be forced to rot. The people come with nets to fish for potatoes in the river, and the guards hold them back; they come in rattling cars to get the dumped oranges, but the kerosene is sprayed. And they stand still and watch the potatoes float by, listen to the screaming pigs being killed in a ditch and covered with quick-lime, watch the mountains of oranges slop down to a putrefying ooze; and in the eyes of the people there is the failure; and in the eyes of the hungry there is a growing wrath. In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage.”
True lol
I wonder what kind of incriminating evidence was on those machines that they ended up in a lake, and if whoever threw them in there realised that the information wasn't stored on the monitors lol
Exactly.
People not being able to tell the difference between tankie rhetoric ("put all of the bourgeoisie up against the wall and everyone I disagree with in the gulag!!12") or even plain old anti-communist propaganda, and actual leftist views is for them to figure out with themselves. I said what I said, and I mean it as I said it (including saying that I don't even think it's necessary to kill all billionaires, never mind anyone bellow them, which they conveniently ignore).
Sure, I can't promise I'll remember, but send me a friend code next time you play, and I'll add you
Same, having somewhere so beautiful and calm to play and just hang out is really great.
I first started playing when it originally launched for mobile around 2019 and never even made it to the bit at the end because I got scared and overwhelmed long before it lol, but I got back in to it a few months ago, actually took the time to read up on the wiki and stuff which wasn't really around back then (or I didn't think to look) to understand what was going on, and it's been great.
They update every 2 weeks at the least with traveling spirits - spirits from past seasons that come back so you can get their cosmetics, emotes, and music sheets/instruments, then there are seasons that last 3 months, and "days of" events that last 2 weeks. It can be a bit overwhelming, but the idea is there's almost always something going on, and old things cycle back, so you always have a chance to get (most) things you missed.
Check out !skychildrenoflight@lemmy.world, I also lurk the libreddit equivalent for more active posting, and definitely dip your toe back in, the new season just launched this week!
I gave a very narrow group, feel free to create your slippery slope strawman elsewhere.
Once you make one group acceptable to kill, you give others a vested interest in defining groups they have prejudice against into that group.
So... they're going to make us all billionaires?
I agree with a lot of points the post is making, but there is also one group in particular, that isn't only responsible for turning society against each other, literally dragging us back in to fascism, but is waaaaay above the law and would always remain that way until the system that put that law in place and enforces it is abolished, which is a complete impossibility without using force.
Do I think all billionaires should die? Not necessarily, but I do think they should cease to exist as billionaires.
Do I think any billionaire would, at first, just give up their money and power and just agree to be like the rest of us? Not a fucking chance.
So yeah, while prison isn't a real threat to them, and they have all the power, and adamant refusal to give it up, I see them as a group it is acceptable to kill, because they see us all as acceptable to kill (and they actively are).
You simply can't compare a random citizen, however harmful to the people around them, to the handful of people who literally control the entire world economy, and all of the abuse and destruction it brings with it, killing millions annually (via artificial scarcity and other methods of deliberately depriving people access to food, water, shelter, and medicine for preventable disease, not to mention other exploitation like slavery or starvation wages, child labour, as well as the patriarchy, queerphobia, and so on which encourage gendered violence and the kind of murder OP is talking about).
Part of being on the left is considering systemic power structures, and understanding that they can not be addressed in the same way an individual offender is.
And for the record: I don't believe in the death penalty and I don't think paedophiles, rapists, and murderers should be executed, because as opposed to billionaires, they can be removed from society in different ways, because they don't own it.
Do it!
And, no spoilers, but if you haven't started the latest season yet, I have a feeling from that short reply that you're going to love the new emote (good for laying in the grass and chilling out!)😊
Hard disagree.
Calling an asshole an asshole has no oppressive or marginalising power. It is a direct consequence of someone's behaviour, and has no impact on anyone but the asshole being called an asshole. Take it a step further and switch "asshole" to "Nazi" then go read about the paradox of tolerance and the social contract theory that resolves it.
Misgendering on the other hand (just like using sexist, racist, ableist and so on language) reinforces the existing structures of marginalising and oppressive powers, and has a deep and harmful impact not on the, for example, transphobe you're misgendering, but on trans people you're supposedly attacking the transphobe to defend.
This outrageous comparison between someone shitty being called shitty, and a transphobe being misgendered, is exactly the kind of bullshit bigots and other bullies twist to make themselves the victims and whine about being oppressed when they are the ones oppressing others.
Don't buy in to it, and definitely don't play along, unless you want to enable them.
Ooh, this is a great template
Ooh, this is a great template, can be applied to all variety of bigotry, which people feel is ok as long as it's aimed at other bigots, ignoring the fact that all they're doing is putting more bigotry out in to the world, and telling marginalised people around them that they aren't safe.
Yup. I've had to stop using ebay because even when you check out with your own card, it goes via paypal, and they have misused my data too many times for me to keep putting any trust in them.
It sucks, because a lot of mutual aid is done over paypal too, but I'm really struggling to justify leaving my account open (and I'm not even in the US where op applies).
Came here to make a similar comment having had a similar experience.
Judging how "easy" someone might have it based solely on age is a ridiculous thing to do.
Mental illness and or abusive parents or siblings (E: or as someone else mentioned: grief) don't suddenly stop existing when you're on holiday, if anything, being away from your own safe space and comfort zone, and in a strange place you don't know surrounded by people you might not even be able to speak to, never mind ask for help, and your abusers potentially feeling more free than they would at home, can make everything significantly worse.
There's plenty of shit to criticise in the world we live in, emo kids reaaaaly shouldn't be one of them.
Technically, might be both
Spook, noun
- slang (originally and chiefly U.S.). A derogatory term for a black person.
Sorry, I was just trying to relate this to autism in a silly way, no criticism or meanness intended.
I don't know for sure, but personally I would say that deep touch is the opposite of soft touch (like grabbing someone's hand vs lightly brushing against it), while deep pressure is about deliberately applying pressure deep in to the tissue (so yeah, like massaging, but also like a really heavy weighted blanket or the steamroller with a ball thing).
I must have missed your previous post, or not had the brain power to reply, good to see these conversations happening either way. 😊
