Usually, yes. Coach or economy class really crams everyone in. In nicer classes you get more room, better perks, food, booze, etc. It's it worth the extra money? Depends. I got the upgrade once, it was a whole different experience, quite pleasant to fly.

Airbnb prices are comparable to similar hotels, maybe even more expensive in the US and Europe. Same thing will happen in Asia once they gain the market share they're looking for, then they'll raise prices.

You have a profound misunderstanding of the trans Saharan slave trade. Over centuries it resulted in millions of West African slaves being transported into and through the Arab world. This may not even have been the most significant source of slaves out of Africa during the pre-European colonial period. It is highly likely that more slaves came from Central and East Africa via Zanzibar. Millions upon millions of slaves being extracted from Africa before the Portuguese arrived. I'm not saying that what Europe did was even remotely reasonable. Just understand that we didn't invent slavery, we didn't start up slavery in Africa out of nowhere. It doesn't excuse us. But we're not uniquely evil either.

I literally paid my debt. I'm not in this for money. They got my money. Does it fix all problems? No. Does it help the current massive buildup of debt that is clogging this generations ability to thrive economically? Absolutely. Do we need systemic solutions? For sure. Forgiveness of these loans is good even by itself.

You're right, it isn't sufficient to fix the problem but you can't make it right without forgiveness for those stuck eternally with the bullshit loans they were coerced into.

As someone who has paid off my own students loans I gotta say I fully disagree. The system we have for paying for college is super predatory and creates incentives for all kinds of shitty, but still legal, behavior by colleges, loan companies, etc. School shouldn't cost so damn much in the first place, it didn't for our parents, it shouldn't have for us, it damn well shouldn't for our kids.

Read the first book of each series and see how you feel about them. No need to commit to the whole series until you're sure you like one. Both are great in their own way. But it is worth noting that Dune gets really different after the first book and books 3 and 4 of Hyperion are like a whole different story. You might consider reading the first book of Dune, then Hyperion and Fall of Hyperion. Then see about the rest.

That isn't what happened. We developed highly effective vaccines that keep you from dying and reduce your chance of serious illness and/or long covid. Hospitalizations for COVID have absolutely cratered faster than cases have. Like, the rule they made is fucking stupid, they deserve to eat shit over it, but you don't have to completely mischaracterize what we did as a society in pushing back against employers being shitty to their employees.

When you steal the company just raises prices on everyone else to cover what you stole. You aren't stealing from a shitty faceless corporation, you're stealing from everyone who pays. As a paying customer, fuck you.
