  • Goddammit. I thought I'd get out of going to Ohio next week if WWIII happened.

  • I also watched SG1 when I had COVID and survived without hospitalization, so we've got two data points showing that it helps.

  • His hell is trying on gloves that don't fit for eternity

  • Local elections have a lot more impact on your day-to-day life. They're just not covered much because the audience for them is so tiny it's not profitable for the media to spend their time on them.

The other reason is that it builds up a roster of candidates that can use name recognition and experience to run for higher state or federal offices. For example, my state rep started off in the town council. (He's not a progressive by any means but it's nice having someone in office I went to high school with and whose kid is in the same school as mine.)

The problem is that at the national level, because of the FPTP voting system, they will still need to be a Republican or a Democrat.

  • The entire tech sector took off when they realized they could exploit our autism for profit

  • So what? It figured out The Answer, big whoop.

Get back to me when it figures out The Question.

  • I'm an asshole sometimes so I throw anything I make in the trash

  • Nothing like an election year to make me feel even less like an American than I thought I could ever feel. I was born here to a family that's been her since before the Revolution and I simply cannot fathom the minds of my fellow countrymen.

  • One of the rules of branding is to choose a unique name to prevent confusion. Half the time I see the X logo I don't know if they're talking about X11 or the website formerly known as Twitter

  • If you've got a problem with Canada gooses you got a problem with me and I suggest you let that one marinate.

  • Alton Brown taught me that there's some folks who think barbecue (the cooking method) was invented to cook human meat.

Plus we're already putting pig heart valves into human beings, and growing organs inside them. If we're that compatible it would make sense we taste the same.

  • Honestly none of them seem particularly appetizing. God knows what they've been consuming, so we'll probably need to finish them on apples and corn for about a month to flush out any off flavors. Plus most of them are men so they'll have boar taint if we don't also castrate them before we start limiting their diet.

(I raised pigs and, biologically, pigs are a lot like humans.)

  • I'm telling you if we eat just one billionaire the rest will fall in line

  • I really love being alone so it worked great for me. I hardly left my property and had so much upkeep to perform that I got in great shape.

But if you're a person who likes people and needs human interaction I wouldn't recommend it. Unless you really like Zoom calls.

  • When I lived in the boonies I had a house like that. It was on a windy mountain road that was rarely traveled except on Sundays when people would drive their classic cars around. I could sit there with a beer after mowing my lawn and have my own private parade, and walk the couple miles into town no problem.

For work I just had to walk down the hall because shipping my brain through meatspace to push buttons in a different place is stupid.

  • A few years ago I moved from the mountains to the suburbs and I hate it and can't wait to get back.

    I miss the stars...

  • FOX NEWS ALERT: Rotation of the earth creates HOURS LONG windows of DARKNESS that allow EVIL MIGRANTS to SMUGGLE DRUGS. Liberal CONSPIRACY called "heliocentrism" to blame.

NEXT UP: Copernicus: Evil woke liberal who fought the catholic church and "proved" the theory that allows migrants to cross the border undetected

  • My kids live within easy walking distance of most of their friends, but they don't hang out nearly as much as they want to because there's a stroad between them.

  • If black people had gone back to traditional religions after emancipation I imagine the Reconstruction would have been even more filled with racist violence. Assimilating into the dominant culture is a survival strategy.

See also: The Sikh family who lives near me who had to take the symbol of their religion off their car after having it vandalized for being "Muslim."

  • This reminds me of the shift in the car market when Japanese cars entered the market after the Oil Crisis. American auto makers, used to building unreliable land yachts, couldn't adapt fast enough. Now we have American car makers building electric land yachts that people can't afford, and are threatened by cheaper foreign cars.
