Yeah, except he and his brother own majority shares in Tesla and pretty much hand-picked the board. I bet this is nothing but performative; they get a new ‘face’ for the company while he still runs Tesla from the background, Wizard of Oz style.
Some people haven’t experienced anything bad yet, so they don’t care. Some people realize that once the fighting starts we’re all fucked for the next few decades at minimum and for a few centuries worst-case. And some people are positively thrilled by what’s happening and are cheering everything on.
Hence why there’s no rioting, yet. I hope it’s coming, that we don’t just roll over like the Iranians and the Russians did for their autocrats, but I also fear that it is coming.
That and, in my opinion, the constant villainizing of firearms, to the point that many on the left are outright afraid of guns, or so disgusted with them that they’d rather eat rotten food than own one.
Well, that and constantly telling people that polite protests off in a corner are the only way to affect change. Those were often the same voice.
Of course constantly threatening to take away people’s stuff is going to get a person to vote for the guy saying he won’t take away people’s stuff. But the way those right-wing gun-nuts turned it into identity politics and single-issue voting is totally on them.
That was by design, actually. A lot of the old arcade games were like that.
It was to get people to either quit after a bit of playing so a new person could step in and give the machine money, or have the person who lost at the hard level put more money in.
Otherwise at just a quarter the machines become unprofitable. Just capitalism things.
That’s what they want, though. They (the rich leaders) can always go elsewhere for medical care.
Their constituents, on the other hand, suffer the full brunt of it, and so end up poor, uneducated, with even minor illnesses causing major issues. So they are constantly too busy trying to survive to fight back, and too poorly educated to realize they should.
Or maybe they’re trying to find some humor in a pricy vet bill.
JFC get over yourself. If the animal does it to itself, and you rush it to the vet like this person did, that is in no way, shape, or form ‘animal abuse’.
It’s addictive. People get addicted to stress too.
The difference is hate makes you feel stronger and more focused than you really are. It gives you a target that’s not you, so you don’t ever have to face yourself.
But the foes would always be within. This isn’t just red vs blue, it’s rural vs urban. Oregon goes Blue every time, but you drive 30 minutes out of the city and it’s Trump Central.
They said that there are people on Lemmy who think a person who stabs someone vs a person who doesn’t are morally equivalent—as long as they’re both poor.
Very different.
They did also say that there are poor people who stab others and blame their actions on being poor, but that was tangential to their main point about judging the morals of a person solely based on their wealth or lack thereof.
No. That just legitimizes them. You have to shut them down and march them off stage.
Ignoring bullies only empowers them.
