In Bonn (Germany), where I lived for a few years, there was an incident not too long ago where a homeless person carried a severed head in a bag, in broad daylight, to the district court and put it in front of the entrance, then sat down across from it.
There are many many sheltered dogs in other countries which could be imported by the Netherlands. A lot of German shelters do that and both of my dogs are/were originally from Romania. In that country they have a huge problem with stray dogs and many end up in killing stations. They even have a shelter with about 6000 dogs in it (Smeura, founded by an Austrian woman) and mostly export them to other countries because Romanians don’t seem to care about dogs.
If anyone wants to adopt a dog from another country I recommend going through local shelters/organizations that already have them imported. There are some sleazy practices going on with people breeding dogs and then selling them as if they were strays. Also you get to meet the dog upfront before making such a big decision.
Some of our politicians in Germany love the idea of flying taxis and monorails but "luckily" they don't like actually spending money on infrastructure so instead they opt to do nothing at all.
You think he would develop and build a whole tunnel boring machine and dig through Vegas just to sell a handful more cars? It's not like the people potentially buying Teslas in the US would even consider going for a subway instead. If anything those people might use the subway in addition to driving a Tesla.
I wonder if the EU regulation even dictates that web apps on the Home Screen need to be able to run in third party engines. It was mainly about browsers.
It’s sometimes helpful when working with libraries that are not well documented. Or to write some very barebones and not super useful tests if I’m that lazy. But I’m not going to let it code for me. The results suck and I don’t want to become a „prompt engineer“.
I didn’t like it personally. It seemed like a dream come true but the third dimension from a player perspective makes it annoying to build anything and generally confusing I find. Will see how Shapez 2 handles the jump to 3D.
I love and talk a lot about factory games (Factorio, Shapez, Factory Idle,…) but I don’t think any of my friends would ever get into it. But I don’t really care.
I kinda understand the appeal but there are just too many other languages that have a real practical use for when I’m traveling and want to speak to regular people instead of a secret society.
Smoked for about 15 years, tried a few times to stop, never worked. Made myself a promise to stop once I get a dog. Got a dog and stopped smoking with no problem.
Possible contributing factors:
When it was time to stop I was already pretty disgusted by smoking. I just needed a last push.
My mind was in a more positive state after I had a deep depression for a few years. I was also more conscious about my health because of that (see previous point)
My friend group and work place used to be full of smokers and somehow that changed over time, so I was often alone with my addiction
Yes some of my smart bulbs make that sound when they’re off or on low power. I’m 38. I do have a mild tinnitus as well but it’s on a different frequency so I hear the difference.
Nothing ever proven. He was weird, he had issues with boundaries and felt like a child himself. He never hid the fact that he slept in the same bed with these children and thought it’s just a very normal thing (he mentioned it in an interview that was also shown in Leaving Neverland I think). Maybe he did some things with them that he also thought was normal like, you know, children discovering themselves, playing doctor and stuff. Not good at all. But from his perspective kinda innocent games. Just a theory about his intent and no excuse of course. If anything happened anyways.
I was always a big fan of his music and general style and still am but I think it is possible some things happened behind the scenes because he was just a very broken person. And later I felt he had this “too good to be true” vibe to him.
There are also rumors he was gay and that fucked him up even more because he had to hide it (like pretty much everyone back then).
My problem is I don’t see how that relates to podcasts. It’s just a medium. Everything you describe can happen everywhere else.
Edit: Maybe what you’re missing are journalistic standards. Most podcasts are for entertainment and you might need to dig a little deeper to find professional journalism.
