  • This comment completelt encapsulates what is wrong. MLA essays? The format is going to die? You have issues with shitty teachers, where are there problems due to the systems in place, you are alright with AI taking away an important human experience? Like come on. Can we stop using AI and critically think for a bit.

  • It doesn't seem they are using free speech in the same sense as the American first amendment (they may not be from the USA). But i would argue that if companies want to play politics, run countries, and be that integrated in people's lives then free speech as a concept should extend to companies.

  • That isn't what I mean by cardboard. Persuasive, research, argumentative essays have been taught to be written the way tou described. They are meant to be that way. But even then, the essays I have read and graded still have this cardboard feel. I have read plenty of research essays where you can feel the emotion, you can surmise the position and most of all passion of the author. This passion and the delicate picking of words and phrases are not there. It is "averaged".

  • I can confirm that a lot of student's writing have become "averaged" and it seems to have gotten worse this semester. I am not talking about students who clearly used an AI tool, but just by proximity or osmosis writing feels "cardboardy". Devoid of passions or human mistakes.

  • Which? The recent or future? For the recent, it doesn't matter. It has happened. For the future, it needs to be overwhelming. The opposing candidate to Trump need to win by a yuge margin, something where it is hard for the right wing captured media can lie about. Where people can FEEL it off. Pictures like this validates people's perception of election results.
