The reason why the Jimny (Samurai) was discontinued in the US was due to Consumer Reports corrupting their testing procedures due to corporate pressure.
The fact that a Jimny will not survive being hit by an oversized Truck reflects more poorly on the society that is normalising driving oversized Trucks than on the Jimny.
When we moved in, we had a two car garage and three cars. (Actually a few project cars in the back yard, but they don’t count).
The land developer did not permit three car garages
Now I have two adult nieces and one nieces boyfriend and their extra three cars.
We also have one camper trailer that used to fit in the back yard, but someone installed a roof-top-tent on it and now doesn’t even fit in the garage.
Fortunately, I have two very accomodating neighbours.
We also have one neighbour who did drive a RAM 2500, but decided to downsize to a normal sized vehicle because they couldn’t get their vehicle out of the street because of all the P-Plater cars that were inconsiderately parked in the street.
This is evidence that the US political system does not function.
There are two paths forward;
Burn down the entire thing (which Trump and frenemies are currently doing).
rebuild and reform the existing system (which can happen by voters voting for progressive centralist candidates in local and state representatives en-mass (like in NYC).
I would not call Zohran Mandani a socialist. I would call him a progressive rational centralist.
Me too, and Copilot is disabled on my work computer (and then magically reenabling itself)
Please tell me how to disable Data Detectors on MacOS, sometimes a number is just a numerical string and is not a Phone number; actually it it quite unusual for it to ever be a phone number.
Even if it is a phone number, I would love to be able to just copy and paste it without it trying to connect to my phone and prank call some poor sucker.
This can be paired with the “Erase all Data” option in “FaceID and Passcode” settings to add another level of security.
Just remember to play dumb when you “accidentally” incorrectly enter your passcode 10 times in a row and to make sure you have a recent backup that you are able to access.
This reminds me of when I got Spore on Optical disc for my (brand new at the time) Intel iMac.
The disc was ISO9660 with both Joliet and HFS extensions, so if you put it in Windows, it would show up natively and if you put it in a Mac, it would also be native.
After a few games in MacOSX I was disappointed with the performance so I started to dig and realised it was the Windows Binary with some sort of WINE-like translation layer. I assumed it would run better natively in Windows.
I installed Bootcamp and a stripped-down version of Windows Vista and then installed the native Windows version. It installed a Root kit that broke most of Vistas security and the game ran even worse and crashed constantly.
I don’t think that Microsoft deserves all the blame for games running like shit natively. The users who pirate games and the studios who don’t trust Windows users to not pirate games deserve the blame as well.
Microsoft (and Post-Jobs Apple) definitely do deserve a lot of blame for allowing their platforms to get so bloated with so many features that users don’t want.
Copilot should have been laughed out of the boardroom and Apple Intelligence is an underperforming, overly obnoxious know-nothing know-it-all.
I can’t remember the combination of buttons you need to hold down on your iPhone to disable biometric unlocking and to force erase your phone.
Anyone else remember these, and know the equivalent combination for Android devices, please comment.
Keeping multiple devices is the easiest way to get by. Have a burner phone for everyday use when travelling and keep your main phone either at home, or locked and unpowered in your luggage.
Repetition with sincerity.
