  • I don't understand why there are suicidal people who feel compelled to murder before they kill themselves. Geez. Thankfully no one died - today. I'm sure there will be another one tomorrow though. We really need a powerful anti-NRA. I'd pay monthly dues for that.

  • It's good to remember that the system works... sometimes.... at least a little bit... maybe

  • Irrational exuberance at its finest

  • Who knows. Maybe they realize the stock is already overpriced and they don't want to jinx it. I'm still in awe of the fall musk made in the public consciousness. He went from the guy who wanted to change the world and help end fossil fuel consumption to someone who paid 40+ billion to make a safe space for Internet trolls... Crazy.

  • I doubt he'll win but media matters will have attorney fees and those can be financially devastating sometimes.

  • I can't imagine having a terminal painful disease and being told that I just have to wait until the end comes. That sounds inhumane to me. Like severe dementia. I have a former coworker who was her mother's only caregiver and her mother was in bad shape. Self injurious and violent. I learned the word "autocoprophagia" from her, which means one who eats their own feces. I'd rather commit suicide than put my loved ones through that.

  • That tells me more than anything else. He needs to get his message out of he wants to have a chance.

  • Menendez will have built up his own machine by now. Donors, connections, relationships, etc. it remains to be seen if they'll stick or jump ship. I really think you're probably right though. No one wants to back a losing horse. As for her only running one term. I'm not well versed in New Jersey politics but once someone has power it's hard to give it up.

  • There's this whole thing about the crazy exgirlfriend in our culture. "Oh man my ex. Lemme tell ya. What a bitch." But nothing about the crazy ex boyfriend or ex husband and they're the ones stalking, assaulting, and killing. It feels like everything is completely upsidedown sometimes.

  • It's all about the narrative. If she sets her own story then that'll be what voters hear. Generally speaking I don't think someone is permanently poisoned just because they were once a Republican. I know quite a few former Republicans who are firmly anything but and a couple who jump back and forth.

  • Inflation will hurt Christmas sales for sure. We're buying less at my house

  • Maybe if we're lucky menendez will stay in the race and split the establishment vote. Politics is dirty though and just like how Republicans have donated to green party candidates to split the liberal \ progressive vote maybe the Murphys will gin up support for Medina or Hamm to split Kim's vote. I think this'll be a real slugfest.

  • I don't live in Jersey but if I did I'd vote for him too. Only time will tell.

  • So I personally disagree. I don't think there's a right to be intoxicated (or shouldn't be a right). I actually would like to see the limits of the 21st amendment tested by passing laws that forbade alcohol consumption after DUIs. I personally don't have a problem with the legalization of marijuana and I'd extend it to certain hallucinogens (e.g. psilocybin, mescaline, & LSD). I would not like to see amphetamines and opiates legalized though and if there were a legalization referendum on them I'd personally vote against it.

  • It's very popular among the left wing of the party to hate manchin. But I'd rather have a manchin than a markwayne mullin or a josh hawley.

  • Are people you know talking about him right now?

  • So your initial comment was something along the lines of, "why don't I have the right to do whatever drugs I want?" And I said that there wasn't a constitutional right to drugs. Are you of the opinion that there's a right to do drugs?
