  • Statistically speaking, that would split the American "left" vote while not affecting the number of republican voters at all. At best it would give the republicans at least a minority government in every election for a long time and nothing will change. As impossible as it seems, the best course of action would be to try to effect change in the democratic party instead of trying to run against them. It really a shitty scenario with no real winning solution at present.

  • It has a gaming mode which is essentially the big picture steam interface and it has a desktop mode which is a fully functional Linux pc. If I wanted my deck to be my plex/immich/file server, I could do so without making a single change to the stock os.

  • A lot of games are going to work without you having to do anything and some will need some tinkering. In that case, https://www.protondb.com/ will be your best friend, telling you exactly what you need to do to get things running.

That being said, some games simply can't be run under Linux. They might work in the future as compatibility improves but some won't. If it's an issue for you, you might want to dual boot windows as a workaround.

  • Old reddit does the same thing on desktop but if that goes away I'll be fully done with it. As it is I am about an 80/20 split between lemmy and reddit now so it's probably going to happen regardless but that would speed things up.
