My point is that barbaric events like what happened in Israel on Saturday are rare and letting that colour your entire perspective on the human race is unhealthy. Someone kills 50 people headline news across all forms of media, someone saves the lives of 50 people you will probably never even know their name.

I hate this stance. There's so much good in people as well. Too many terminally online people just get a warped perception of what others are like from constant negative news and end up glorifying isolation as a result. Yup. It definitely feels like over time the human element of the Internet has been replaced by a corporate one. The most blatant example I can think of is youtube. Nowadays it's so obvious rigged in the favour of already established media and a select few content creators.

I fail to see the nuance in situations like residential schools. Could you perhaps educate me so I can come to a more informed conclusion than sending thousands of indigenous Canadians to schools designed to stripped them of their culture is a bad thing to do.

Eh. There's more to it than like you need a degree to become a doctor, lawyer, psychologist etc. It's just that you need to have a well layer out plan and a good understanding of what your strengths and weakness are. Unfortunately, in the US there's a massive emphasis on getting into college right after high school where people barely know what they want nor have any real world experience. In Ireland there's a scheme there's a thing called a mature student where its basically encouraging people 23 or older to go into college. Like courses will have spots reserved for them and the like.

BTW forget all that stuff in college while you are at it.

Funny how that works. Can't get a job because of a gap in the resume. Not getting hired leads to an even bigger gap. Its a vicious cycle.

A lot of people who were erroneously accessed as having an intellectual disability on the ASD spectrum was because they were non verbal. Once speech and language therapy was able to help some of these kids speak. Once they were able to communicate it was apparent that they weren't actually slow. When I was 2 my parents were told I would be able to write or spell my own name. Here I am more than 20 years later studying psychology in college.
