  • That's a lot of activities. .. you sound a bit like me: well I went for a jog (meaning I ran like crazy for 1 and a half hours) I worked only a little bit today (six hrs of demanding physical work) then I met with only one friend (we discussed her divorce) and in the evening I cought up on studies to finish my MA ..

    • all of that was me just before burnout.

I was trying to catch up on life and also internalised the abuse of not beeing enough nor doing enough.

Please learn to be nice to yourself. I had to try out six psychologists before I found one who was able to see behind my mask and allowed me to work through my experiences (abuse, etc. )

I needed to learn to pace myself ( a half hr walk is good enough for your mental health, also I discovered weight training / bodybuilding works well. (I was mostly doing endurance muscles before to "stay lean" and not look "too burly". That was a bad idea. Fuck the patriarchy.) weight training is even scientifically proven to enhance your brain activity.

Also your reactions sound like you have a little bit of deficiency in some minerals/amino acids/ vitamins. If your health care provider covers it you should get your bloodwork done. I did the same thing when I finally was able to get away - I was constantly tired and unwell because I forgot to eat Cruciferous plants.

Or you can try the poor people route and just eat the supplements you can affford for a month and see if it changes anything. In that case tracking your mood helps you see changes. Mood journal PDF s are easily found on google. Toxic family upbringing has a tendency to make you misremember your own moods and diminish your successes.

Building routines also helps. Every bit of daily (self) care.

    Wish you the best.

  • Another thing is how most of media talks about his wife and kids, failing to mention the wife was estranged and they already were separated. The kids are adults too, so the Picture they paint is highly misleading. The reason seems. ... manipulative.

  • Doesn't even have to be Apple, the wife and I are on different carriers and I saw the same shenanigans happening.

Signal app or Threema or really any other independent messaging app (except whatsapp, strangely) solved the issue.

  • Says here SGI demoed the coprocessor to both Nintendo and Sega. Sega bowed out after their engineers found / perceived problems with the SGI design. I do not remember any behind the scenes article about the realtionship between Nintendo and SGI but having heard a lot of stories, I suspect the read would be entertaining ...

  • I personally know someone who uses something he calls "Dutch reach-around" and while I'm hazy on the details, I know it starts with some complex setup of a charitable foundation in your home country, with real people and real money and a network of firms and other foundations in the Netherlands that are somehow interwoven. He told me "setup is cheap, only 5 million dollars up front, you can ask my tax attorney for the deets"....

That was a nice move, but no thank you, this is not the kind of money I have lying around.

Bonus how us firms do it, I imagine this costs also a lot of money up front...

  • Identification of this virus began in 1973, here is an article about it from 1997. - I suppose a lifetime supply of immunosuppressants is far more profitable than the system you are proposing.... but I like your system. It just is more elegant.

  • As someone who switched to Linux, and found reasons not to for literal decades, this has helped me:

Have a second ssd in your PC that is untarnished by the windows bootloader.

This way one can easily switch via BIOS / UEFI and no other annoying software.

Dual booting is also less annoying, if you switch via boot menu. It lets you test drive and configure Linux anytime you're in the headspace for it and reduces pressure on yourself.

Install linux on it. My current favorite for your situation would be Fedora KDE Plasma Desktop Spin (what a mouthful). Have another exfat partitioned usb disk ready for file exchange with windows. Again, this makes handling windows easier, has nothing to do with linux.

Nvidia on fedora works good enough. third party repos also help a lot.

streamdeck is wonderful hardware, I know a friend who uses it daily with streamdeck_ui

    • same with GoXLR Configuration Utility. Software is there, the only question is does it work for you.

This is to my knowledge as close to "official" as you can get. Good luck on your journey!

  • That mechanic looks like a game about a mermaid I played on iPad ten or so years ago. I cannot remember the name but it was like a cozy adventure game, I loved it so much...

Will definitely check this one out, thanks!

  • I've never seen the safety break feature on my phone - looked into "settings" -> "app info" for "android auto" just now.

The thing that stood out to me: I've disabled the ability to overlay onto other apps.

Maybe this works for you too...

This is like a feature that seems well intentioned but dangerous anyway, like the Apple look at screen to unlock feature. Hope you succeed in disabling this feature.

  • Same. The basic stuff works and i managed to replace recipes with nextcloud cookbook but its quite heavy caldav notes and tasks support on ios would be wonderful but i couldnt find something that integrates into our workflow and systems.

  • I currently rent a VM running nextcloud for family use. It currently shows its age with all the nescessary tinkering to keep it current. (also have to use the hosters db which is .. difficult)

I'm thinking along the same lines...

a smallffpc at home, dyn to my home ip, wireguard as a vpn into my home, The server runs: radicale caldav carddav, ksmbd family photos.

my main problem: this needs to work on ios and android and linux and windows, reliably, which it currently does not in my test setup.

currently lacking a solution for recipe sharing and shopping list sharing. Maybe setting up nextcloud on my own server is less of a hassle_..

  • Im also sorry to hear about sneezy mcglassfaces mom. The BBS I hung out on always referred to people who always act on "bigger is better" and hated anything unusual/ foreign as "Reptiles" because well reptiles behave the same way. I think we all thought it was clever and funny. Fast forward a few years the place is full of people apparently really believing reptiles in human skin suits are real and control the world. Similar thing i saw happening a few years later with the warhammer community. Talk about people unable to read sarcasm.
