  • In typical MS fashion this might be very hard to debug with the hundreds of interacting components./s

In all seriousness they reviewed their internal docs not even the code (likely because it's extremely complex) and said fixing this would brake existing functionality. I think "some cases" is doing heavy lifting for "we know many cases, but won't tell the bad guys out there".

  • "We originally looked at a code change for this issue, but after further review of design documentation, changes to code could break compatibility with functionality used by many applications."

Year of the Linux (Server|Desktop). Seriously. If you are in IT pls look into this (and hide your RDP server behind some VPN. No not MS RDP Gateway.)

  • Yeah. Thats what the extensions to TR-069 like TR-369 / 181r2 etc. are there for. Total router control.

I mean some ISP just give full control to law enforcement via REST interface. So not even a shadowy Insider needed.

Re WiFi home security: don't do it. All the burglars have full spectrum wifi/cellphne jamming devices bc they are like 175 bucks on ali express (last time I checked four yrs ago). I expect them to have gotten a lot cheaper.

Never heard about the "burning out WiFi" attack, but it makes sense. WiFi chips in modern routers are so warm, adding extra cycles might kill them.

  • Well, when Cheney of all people walked on stage and the democrats welcomed him, that was political suicide too. Unfortunately democrat big corporate donors see nothing wrong with turning the ratchet to the right, so democrats like her will be the new normal I suppose.

    Image ref: The ratchet effect.

  • From personal experience: There are quite big kitchens in some Parishes, if Father Patrick is serious about feeding the poor. That part is the most believeable.

Church floors not staining from the amount of wine, immediately telling on the guy - that's the part I have a hard time believing. But maybe the arch bishop did not want to visit the crime scene.

    Enjoyed the story. Fabulous !

  • I used a Fairphone 4 with /e/ and it was good. Not great, but useable. I expect the hardware bugs I ran into (using the camera only worked like 20 times before the phone needed a restart, Bluetooth randomly not working) to be ironed out by now. Currently on an old Samsung and it is more solid, but I also liked the environmentalism with the fairphone. Anyone with a Fairphone 5 and something like a glucose sensor thats in constant use?

  • As someone who worked IT, confusion is good for business. I'm only half joking.

fedora says it's a bug in kiwi. I presume they are waiting for upstream to fix this. Parsing this glancingly, found this issue with kiwi and it's beeing fixed. Thank you for the pointer, I'll wait for the next release of Live Images. (Install images are not effected).

  • Yeah scrcpy is a lifesaver. I have successuflly used scrcpy-GUI (together with an OTG adapter for a mouse) in the past, but my screen was partly usable, so I could see and did not have to do too much adb/fastboot magic.

If OPs screen is broken and they did not do anything beforehand, I would have no idea how to proceed, since HDMI alternate mode seems (still) not very widespread.

  • Just FYI: The "Mac Studio" when equipped with 32-core M3Ultra processors can have up to 512GB of RAM.

It costs like 15k after taxes, so not exactly the scope of this thread, but it exists.

  • That is so good and satisfying to hear.

I'm also currently almost exclusively on Linux. My Spouse has a Fedora powered Notebook with a super fast 8/16 core amd processor and loves it dearly. (Cannot remember the maker, but since the BIOS/setup was huge PITA I wont be buying from them again.) I used to love the simplicity and light-weighted -ness of apples setup, but over the years Linux systems made it far easier to use them as a "digital hub". Turns out I did not enjoy selling my soul to Satan (Oracle Virtualbox) or pay an extra 100 bucks per year (Corel Parallels) just so I could use a few windows only tools I had.

  • Just a reminder since this seems relevant: The abuser's Waiting Game includes consistently rescheduling plans.

Hey this was bad, but wait a few weeks and then something really bad happens. You just wait Then all the others around you will finally see.

From someone who's been around for a few years: No this specific bad thing will not happen. No those around you won't see for themselves.

  • Oh no. Maybe some Incense to cleanse the demons? (⊙_⊙)

Edit: I just remembered I had a similar problem, after changing the battery on my 2015. This thread at macrumors helped me tremendously especially the last entry (did it on three seperate days before it had an effect.) but I'm sure you already tried all of that. Just for the off chance.

these Intel Macs were such a bad experience.
