  • Obviously. But despite not pulling in the money, and Musk virtually destroying it and turning it into a cesspit the value on the books is still up there (despite being arguably overpriced from the start).

If I were to buy a house and partially burn it down, the value shouldn't stay the same. It just amazes me that it is still worth so much after what Musk has done to it.

  • Despite its struggles, the value of X soared back earlier this year to the $44bn Musk paid for it and last month his X.AI artificial intelligence firm acquired the business for $33bn.

  • Classic maneuver, divide and conquer. Even animals know you gotta separate your prey from the rest of the pack before you can take them down with the least amount of effort.

  • I mean.. isn't that exactly what trump is there to do? He's a russian asset after all, he's not looking out for the usa.

  • Interesting. I meant "boots on the ground" overseas in the context of foreign intelligence as per the article.

Doesn't surprise me that of course they have to stick their noses into other peoples business at the bequest of the conservatives.

  • I thought so too, but from what I understand CSIS doesn't do boots on the ground type work (overseas), and mainly just gathers data. (Wildbus's comment below claims they do still harass canadians here at home though)

Sounds more the case that while we do HAVE an intelligence service, they are underfunded and restricted in their abilities do do as much as they may need to.

  • Huh Til... sounds like many other agencies that are there in spirit... but semi gutted and underfunded in reality.

  • They've been around since 1984 and they used to do much more than just online stuff.

The Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS, SCRS) is a foreign intelligence service and security agency of the federal government of Canada. It is responsible for gathering, processing, and analyzing national security information from around the world and conducting covert action within Canada and abroad. The CSIS has no law enforcement function and mainly focuses on intelligence gathering overseas.

I've had family work there, but obviously they never talked about it much so maybe I just misunderstood what they were doing exactly.

  • My vote is already on its way. If anyone needs a voting kit you can go to https://elections.ca/ and get one. Takes less than 15 minutes from your couch. Deadline is April 22 but I'd recommend ASAP.

  • Same. I can't recall any of my doctors ever measuring my height. The police and RCMP however.. both kept pretty good records of my teenage growth years.

  • "I'm sorry, we misunderstood that we actually had to sell those cars to claim that money."

  • For sure, but it's still nice to actually have the data to back it up.

  • I'd prefer he be launched... by ACME.

  • That would deserve a holiday akin to the 4th.

  • I really hope it has fallen off that cliff only to drown in the lake in the valley.

  • My music folder is 8006 files (53.7GB) but I probably only listen to maybe 200 of them that are actually in my normal playlist.

  • Fresnel lenses (like the kind you can tear out of old projection tv's) work great for that, but they're kind of a pain and bulky, and very impractical. I have one I took out of an old 55" projection tv. I think charcoal firestarters by a tire works better and can be "deployed" in seconds, but concentrated light is still pretty cool. This vid shows how well they can work.

  • Good point. I didn't think to add that because I rarely carry my tracking devices with me.
