  • I recommend to use bottles. It creates sandboxed bottles with wine and directx support and offers a gaming optimized preset

  • I use Speech Note for STT/TTS and it works great. You can choose between different models, I use whisper (more accurate) or Vosk (faster). You don’t need a GPU, but it will speed things up greatly

  • AFAIK you can already sign into pixelfed with your mastodon account. It is a good idea, I think the only problem would be you would be completely reliant on Instance and if that goes down everything is gone

  • Aurora is a beautiful place to live in and I love it

  • I had this exact same thought but than I booted Windows. I get less frustrated because if use Linux I feel like I’m working with it and it is acceptable if there are mistakes. If I use Windows I feel like I’m working against it, and a big part of that is that a lot of issue aren’t there because they are bugs (of which there are probably as many as on Linux) but rather just bad/anti user design

  • If they use the same monetization no probably not, other platforms that do work like that (like Odysee) have some limits, for example Odysee doesn’t transcode the videos and has a limit of 16mbits and 15gb total. It may be possible for platforms like Vimeo or Nebula as they have a relatively high subscriber count compared to their size and accordingly more money available per person, or something like peertube (or general torrent based) could work if the workload is split between instances and users, but peertube has no monetization so it’s problematic to maintain

  • Newspaper is a pretty cheap and effective way to keep yourself warm, and warm Croissants are easily 10 times better than cold ones

  • They can put it on another App Store in the EU, but only if it’s approved by apple and they pay apple 50 cents per download

  • You just have to add „All hail Tux“ to the end of every comment and it should go away in 2-3 business days

  • That, and also it’s decentralized and sends all messages through the tor network if Bluetooth isn’t available

  • You can use webapp Manager to get web apps for Firefox and apparently official PWA support is also coming

  • Meaning that they’re forks of Chromium on desktop in the same way Floorp is a fork of Firefox on desktop? Not sure what exactly you mean, but I meant they are forks of Firefox on iOS like floorp is from Firefox on desktop

  • rule

    Jump
  • TLDW: only if you also install gentoo

  • Ecosia for sure and Qwant and Brave AFAIK too are forks of Firefox. They all use WebKit as an engine but the rest of the browser is derived from Firefox. Falkon vs Edge was a bad example (wrong), these browsers are more like Floorp. I wasn’t saying that this is generally true for IOS browsers, just that a pretty large part of FOSS ones are

  • They are based off Firefox for IOS which uses WebKit, but they are still based on the browser like Edge which is based on chromium vs Flakon which uses blink but not the rest chromium

  • Just FYI there are no chrome based browsers on IOS cos there is no chromium, the FOSS ones use Firefox mostly

  • Women are the most vulnerable in the world and the most vulnerable are the most vulnerable and most vulnerable in the world because they are the most vulnerable in the world

  • Firefox doesn’t enable it by default, so if you turn it of any chance of being perceived as just another Firefox user is gone. It may not be a measurable difference but as basically no site respects it and those that do aren’t a big problem in the first place it doesn’t matter all that much

  • Their privacy is better than regular Firefox due to disabling telemetry etc, but librewolf does way more to protect against fingerprinting. The browser itself is quite good, although it shows that it’s in early development. Also I disabled send a do not track signal as it is used for fingerprinting

  • My bad, fixed it. I learned it from the Wikipedia article, and when looking for the link I just copied the first link with wiki but that was wiktionary not Wikipedia
