Free time, which many people have at least some of, is worth whatever you make of it. Most people have little or no money thus using their free time on this can be extremely rewarding and cost effective.
Meanwhile mine runs every night. Only complaint is every once in a while it gets stuck on an awkward concrete corner that I haven't fixed yet because it's hardly a big deal. It also adjusts to the weather.

You say this but it's hardly just the south that voted for trump. As you mentioned, the butterfly effect could have changed things dramatically. Things still could have turned out worse for everyone.
