I remember trying to convince my mom that $200 for an SNES is significantly less expensive in the long run than quarters at the arcade. 😂

Just the other day my brother came over and we played OG Bubble Bobble. Two guys over 40 sinking a few hours into an adorable little co-op game. We got to the final boss and called it a night.

I picked it back up the next day, eventually beat that boss and texted my brother to let him know we beat the game.

I'm on the fence here. I won't rule out your claim, as sadism could be a perversion of empathy.

But, I think they recognize and enjoy the suffering BECAUSE they lack empathy, and it's the feeling of power over another that drives them.

The human mind is a messy place, especially when you start analyzing psychopaths.

Maybe not entirely, but it's a MAJOR factor.

It's really hard to hurt another person when you feel their pain. I lack empathy for Walmart, and honestly don't care if you steal from them, but I'm going to make problems for you if I catch you creeping around my friend's house, because I'd empathize with their loss.

You typically only interact with people who put their children at risk. Someone who doesn't give a shit about their kids is someone who lacks empathy.

My first wife did that. We had a good laugh about it 10 years later and got divorced.

Literally everything. My wife likes watching stuff set in the 1800s, and damn. I'm sitting on my couch eating a little tub of ice cream watching these people in the dirt hoping for rain or they'll literally starve over the winter.
