The social media tools today are actively and willfully destructive. Doesn’t matter if it’s telling outright lies about politics or the sciences, or “challenging” people to do risky or damaging things.

Meh. The churn of brain rot on social media platforms has become so desperate I don’t even try to figure it out anymore. Too many vainglorious famewhores all trying to coin terms or “challenges” making it a massive churn of ever-shifting garbage to steer views their direction.
Jan 6 showed us that they only go after low personal risk targets they think they can attack with impunity but whine like little snowflakes when they get caught and have to pay a price. They were shocked when the law came after them.
That’s why they attack radars, non-violent protests from the Left, or things like power substations as you mentioned. Nobody’s shooting back and the odds of getting caught are low.
I felt like things were improving in the ‘90s heading into the 2000s. Let’s face it, things are never perfect, so this constant reminder that even though things were improving there was all this other shit that was still wrong gets kinda old. Overall, things did seem to be calming down after the Gulf War 1, 80’s interest rates, S&L scandals, etc. and you could still reasonably follow the “school to college to get a good job” path. Then 9/11 happened and it went downhill quickly.
Inventory became evil decades ago. “Just In Time” logistics became the norm instead of having warehoused inventory on hand. The beancounters all decided inventory was money that was sitting around not doing anything and maintaining the warehouse space cost more too. Can’t have those costs on the balance sheet. So speed in receiving smaller shipments more often is now the norm, along with ordering when you need them instead of ordering ahead of time, because some beancounter isn’t gonna be happy about extra inventory.
Both Paxton and Rodriguez were the highlights of the rest of the cast. Paxton is the guy showing us how we ought to feel, that this is indeed terrifying and fucked up. “Game over man!” is definitely one of the most memorable lines from the film, but a film having two absolutely badass women in Ripley and Vasquez that stood out because they were badasses, and not because they were specifically planted as women to have women be badasses, was great writing - probably thanks to the script being written for “unisex” characters.
