Damn. Use some punctuation. Every word capitalized doesn’t help parsing it.

I think the lines are blurred, sure. However there are plenty of politicians that really just kind of do their job and stay out of the limelight, whereas celebrities are by default in the public eye. Also, the biggest difference is the part where you vote for a politician and they set policy. I don’t vote for celebs, and I don’t call them telling me what to wear or watch “policy”. We’ve had 2 legit celebrity presidents and they’ve both been disastrous.

Amazing how completely absurd things like this come out of their mouths and they expect people to believe it. Insulting is what it is. We’ve had an HP AIO printer for a decade + that is “bricked” because of their stupid DRM. I can’t even use the scanner because we have non-HP ink. Never gonna buy another HP product.

Companies: Yeah, yeah, whatever… think how much we money can make using AI. Full steam ahead, consequences be damned.

I’m not in favor of celebrity moving to politics. Even ones that I think are intelligent. Stewart has long been involved in political mockery and has actual experience in helping a bill get passed, but I think he wouldn’t survive the frustration of being forced to work in DC as President.

There’s a video out there that I can’t find where Stewart is talking to (political science students?) who ask him about his time in DC trying to get the 9/11 First Responders Bill passed and what he thought of politics there. His disgust for real politics and how politicians operate is vividly apparent and borders on revulsion.

I think he’s a good man, but I don’t know that he would be a successful president.

I just assume most people who have a normal online presence have had some form of identity leaked, as well as plenty of people that don’t. Like maybe elderly have credit records breached when Experian got hacked.

Gotta have 2FA, and make sure critical accounts have solid passwords. About all you can do, and no guarantee some shoddy IT in the business holding the account didn’t store all your info unhashed or something.

The viable alternative is to follow the law and vote the assholes out. If you cannot manage that and/or it fails, and still wish to maintain some semblance of democracy, you’re fucked. I think that’s painfully obvious. You try to do the right thing, and if you choose the same path as the shitheads you hate you’re just the same. You just twisted the needle from a christo-fascist autocracy to a Stalinist communist autocracy.

Your methodology ends up with a dictator seizing power to put all their opponents in the gulag. All you’re saying is that you hope your dictator wins first. You’re absolutely clueless about geopolitical history if you don’t understand how this works.

So everyone should abuse their power? Are you willfully blind to where that goes?

You accused me of making it about fear of republicans, that’s doing what you accused me of doing by “creating” the argument. I said nothing about appeasement or letting them have their way to avoid trouble.

In no way shape or form do I think actual and real harm should remain unaddressed. Bullshit must be met head on, but with measured and real responses. But just knee-jerk reaction? No.

That’s exactly my point. Now people want more. Escalate it. Same bullshit as Israel/palestine. Well the first guy did “x” first, then the other guy says but you did the other thing first, etc., etc…

The height of stupidity, there is no end of the blame game of grievances, manufactured or real.

No, I’m not saying “both sides”, one side is objectively better (even if marginally), I’m saying a war of escalating tit-for-tat justifications is useless.

E: in comparison, according the following comments who apparently haven’t a clue and completely misrepresent my intent and argument: Biden should release any democrats from prison or reinstate democrats in positions after they left due to any impropriety. That’s the war of escalation I’m talking about, not simply following the law.

A precedent where your followers break the law in your name can be a dangerous war of escalation between opponents.

Id heard they are more infectious, but I had not heard they are more dangerous.

When you have to compare yourself to a “third world country” to feel not so bad it’s not a compliment.

So we’re still rolling the dice as far as getting a bad covid. Yeah, the virus has generally gotten less serious, but it still has the potential to be serious, and it’s still killing lots of people.

So it’s not the same as sneezing.
