  • Yeah, the infrastructure isn’t there yet for EV. We need chargers everywhere, but they’re still a thing that needs to be searched for and possibly have to go out of your way for. And EV aren’t really great to have someplace like apartments where property owners aren’t going to install them.

So PHEV is better until the system catches up.

  • Damn. Ouch. Had a rotator cuff injury. Took a couple days before it actually set in, but when it did, it sucked. Had to sleep with my arm hanging off the bed in a certain position, hurt if I rasied my arm past a certain point. Couldn’t put my arm behind me at all. Dr basically said I could take 6 months and try to work through it with some exercises or get surgery and take 6 months beyond that for recovery. Chose the former, surgery is no guarantee, and it’s up to about 98% after a year or so. Only once in a while reaching behind me do I notice a little loss of range of motion, but that’s about it.

  • No, it’s not hypocritical. Yes, anyone with half a brain knows China makes a huge chunk of the world’s stuff.

A nation can make choices as to what energy sources they use and China went balls to the wall with coal. That wasn’t a choice the buyers of Chinese products made.

  • Schindler’s List.

Saw it one time. It’s a helluva film. I have no desire to watch it again. Same with Saving Private Ryan. Own it, seen it maybe twice, but both the films had enough impact that I don’t feel the need to watch them.

  • For fun I asked an AI to create a Joker “in the style of Batman movies and comics”.

The Heath Ledger Joker is so prominent that a variation on that movie’s version is what I got back. It’s so close that without comparing a side-by-side to a real image it’s hard to know what the differences are.

  • The process - which is only authorised by Alabama, Oklahoma and Mississippi - involves breathing in nitrogen through a respirator mask placed over the inmate's nose and mouth, which kills them as a result of oxygen deprivation.

Well shit, they should have at least used a full face covering or a hood at minimum.

  • You are not being “suffocated” in the sense that you aren’t allowed to breathe. I suggest you do some looking around and check out events where people have entered spaces that can have no/limited oxygen such as mines or anchor chain lockers on ships. They often simply drop unconscious and are dead fairly quickly. The victim isn’t re-breathing CO2, which is what gives us that panicked lack of air feeling, or someone holding something over your face making it difficult to breathe.

If you’ve ever had a medical procedure that puts you under, I can assure you there’s nothing remembered to be aware of.

  • FTR I’m generally against the death penalty, so same, don’t give me grief. I’m of the opinion that if it’s gonna be done, don’t fuck it up.

Ok. So regarding the implementation it sounds like they fucked it up. As you said (and I previously implied) it sounds like they didn’t properly exclude oxygen/remove waste CO2. Kinda hard to believe they fucked up something so simple considering the ton of evidence on hypoxic accidents.

  • I’m curious how they implemented this. The air completely has to be replaced with nitrogen, no breathing in a mix of nitrogen and outside air, no oxygen at all. People that enter confined spaces with no oxygen pretty much just drop and are dead quickly, so this doesn’t sound like they did it right.

  • I have a similar device for my PC. It enables me to use my joystick on a game that won’t allow it because I also use a G13 game pad. Using the device makes it possible to fly in a game that I wouldn’t otherwise be able to. The issue is that the device also can abuse aim-assist on PC and others. I’ve tried it out, it’s almost a no-recoil, no bullet deviation, soft aimbot. I can tell most top players are using one because their guns are laser beams compared to everyone else. In a 32 player match at least 2-4 people on each side are using one. All the same scores, all the same guns and play style. I don’t see how they don’t get bored with it. When I used it the thrill of an earned victory was gone. Didn’t like it at all.
