  • The thing is she didn't floor it. Didnt even pull away quickly. He could have stepped out of the way... he in fact did, right after he pulled the trigger and shot her. He literally stood in front of the car, pulled his gun and basically said "move the car and you die". He put himself in harms way, pulled his gun and escalated the situation.

This will in all likelihood be deemed a justified shooting by the police and court, but with a little compassion from the officer it could have ended without this lady being dead. Bet he doesn't even care.

  • To be fair and accurate, he lied to the country about the seriousness of the outbreak. He's on recording in Feb 2020 flat-out telling Bob Woodward it's going to be bad, it's much more deadly than the flu. At the same time he's publicly calling it a hoax, that its going to go away, like a miracle.

The people that trusted him didn't take it serious because he told them not to, and then accused everyone taking it serious to be fools or intentionally trying to create a panic and steal their liberties. Had he simply allowed the scientists and the CDC to speak candidly and deferred to them, thousands upon thousands of lives would have been saved.

  • Best suggestion I've heard is rotating subscriptions. Netflix for 3-4 months and watch everything you're interested in then cancel, Apple TV next for 3-4 months then cancel, next maybe Hulu or Max, finally loop back around to Netflix.

Or maybe some might find it works better to rotate 2 services, or keep one like Disney always for the kids but rotate another. Regardless it's not too much of a hassle and avoids paying for 4, 5 or 6 services at a time.

  • Proclaiming that people who keep a weapon for self defense all think "it makes them some badass" is insulting language that will keep some people from being interested in what are some otherwise good points.

I'm a dude that agrees with the sentiment that a baseball bat coupled with bear spray is much better than a gun. The bear spray can be used at a distance of up to 50ft and while it will effectively immobilize someone, it won't do permanent harm if you mistakenly target someone you care about. Baseball bat or knife is definitely a good option, but I can understand a smaller person's concern that both have a need to be very close to a person to be effective and there's a fear of being disarmed. A gun may let them defend themselves from a distance, and any shot, even a bad one or in the air from a distance is a great warning and potential deterence.

An assailant with a weapon themselves may feel provoked to use it if you come after them with a knife or baseball bat too, so it's not unreasonable to opt for a gun in that circumstance too.

A gun itself does bring risk, and like I said I recommend bear spray as that stuff is way more effective than pepper spray, works at a distance and isn't going to kill anyone by mistake. I still however understand why somebody might have more peace of mind knowing they have a gun handy vs just a baseball bat or knife. They'll likely never need either or have an accident, but I won't discount they might feel more secure with a means to defend themselves from a distance.

  • And it's hotter than hell in Phx. Even if you can take the bus, waiting for a bus when it's 110 is less than ideal, as is walking to or from the bus stop with groceries. I'm surprised Phoenix and all its suburbs weren't on this list, especially given how spread out everything is in Phx.

  • Yeah, my experience with Seagate has sucked.

A few years back i got a failed drive replaced under warranty... died like 6 months shy of its 3 year warranty date. They said they'd replace it and sent me a refurbished drive. It died shortly after it was plugged in, before I'd even started copying files to it. I could literally hear something rolling around in the drive. They replaced it again and the new drive failed similarly... plugged in for a while and then windows started reporting it was not accessible. 3rd drive worked, and still works, but I sure as shit don't trust it and haven't bought Seagate since.

  • I'm connected to my WiFi 5 router right now at 702 Mbps. With WiFi 6 you can get significantly faster speeds.

USB 2.0 speeds are horrible for modern wired connections and equipment, and that 480 Mbps is theoretical max, not what you'll actually experience on the wire.

  • I have an unusually low heart rate, mid-40s avg resting and it gets in the upper 30s at times when I lay down or am sleeping. Sets those darn alarms of anytime it goes into the 30s and I've had to get up and turn the beeping off just to get some rest.

  • And then you left out the best part...

That’s already pretty devastating, but then here comes the fork. Meadows, Willis argues, has claimed outright in a different filing that “all of his relevant conduct was impermissible political activity” by asserting that his actions were “unquestionably political” in nature.

Meadows made this rather boneheaded move as part of his Motion to Dismiss the entire case, which he also filed last week. In that motion, as Willis points out, Meadows broadly declared that “[a]ll of the alleged conduct as to Mr. Meadows relates to protected political activity that lies in the heartland of First Amendment” and “[a]ll the substantive allegations in the Indictment concern unquestionably political activity and thus, if not covered by Supremacy Clause immunity, the charges would be barred by the First Amendment.”

Thanks for that admission, Mark. To make your First Amendment argument, you just set yourself up for a takedown on your removal request. In fact, Willis points out, Meadows has admitted he was running around doing “unquestionably political activity” in violation of his duties as a federal official under the Hatch Act.

  • As usual Republicans fighting against regulations that will reduce energy consumption and save Americans money. If it were up to Republicans we'd still be using incandescent light bulbs and driving v8 engines that get 10 mpg.

  • They're giving Android phones the ability to detect Apple tags so you can notice you have one "following" you. You won't be providing GPS updates to Apple as I understand it, nor will you be able to use Apple tags without an iPhone.
