  • And yet I somehow knew Google was collecting my personal info because it was obvious. That's the entire point of the company lol.

When someone searches 'big donkey dicks' in the url bar .. where exactly did they think the browser was pulling those results from? Could it be a website... called Google?

It did exactly what it was described as doing it, which is basically no cookies and no user history (for the user or other users of their computer to see). The TV commercials about buying presents for loved ones never implied anything more.

  • When most people talk about companies 'stealing' their data, it's just companies doing what they explicitly stated in the terms and conditions and these people agreed to.

The whole Google incognito mode drama right now is a great example of this. It literally always said 'incognito will not prevent employers, websites you visit, or your ISP from collecting data' when opening a incognito tab. So yeah, obviously Google also knows what you are looking up and they never implied otherwise at all.

Edit: A lot of down votes, but no one ever clarified how and when exactly it was that Google was misleading. And if there actually is anyone who was legit surprised by this whole thing, can you please explain to me what you thought incognito mode did exactly?... And if there isn't anyone who was surprised, as seems the case so far....that's sort of my point.

  • Is this one of those things that colourblind people see right through? Because I just see a lady sitting in her vehicle with legs a similar colour to the seat. What am I missing here?

  • I am so so so thankful that MAID permitted one of parents to die with dignity. The only alternative was them offing themselves about 6 months earlier. I am forever grateful for those extra 6 months that I had to spend time with them.

  • I refused to use a realtor when buying a home in Northern BC. So I just found a seller who also didn't want one either and was selling something that met my requirements. It was a super easy transaction with literally no problems at all and saved me many thousands of dollars.

Everyone told me this would be impossible. It wasn't. It was extremely easy.

  • I also prefer the actual legalization of all drugs. Decriminalization is barely better than prohibition with inconsistent purity and implicit support of organized crime.

Edit: Oh sorry, I misread. I'm curious as to why you support decriminalization but not legalization. Also, aren't many forms of opiates already legal when sourced correctly? Like for medical applications and stuff?

  • The only drug specifically mentioned in the article is cannabis lol. As such, no not Portuguese, but I am from somewhere much more progressive than Portugal when it comes to cannabis regulations. Can a random tourist even go buy a joint legally from a store in Portugal yet? If any adult can't go buy it from a store legally without any further justification, then it isn't actually legal.

  • I loved Sync for Reddit as an app. But I already was seeing Reddit go downhill even before they killed the apps, that just sealed the deal for me. I was a digg refugee so sadly I've been through this before already.

  • Thank you. I figured whoever posted it just decided to call it that, but nope... Unfortunately it's also right there in the article. I don't understand why they'd use it when so many other established terms are way more suitable, for example Carpet Bombing.

What Israel is doing is fucked up, but it's not scorched earth.

  • The way Korea vilifies recreational drug use is completely absurd and likely led to this.

I love traveling in Korea (and Japan), but have a hard time convincing myself to go back to a place with such fundamentally unethical policies in place.
