Yea, hus speech kinda misses the point that these aren't immigrants seeking a better life. They're refugees fleeing violence. It doesn't matter if they land somewhere with little opportunity if it means they aren't under threat of death.

No they're talking about the idiom "grinning like an idiot" almost getting them punched despite being harmless to anyone with cultural context

People should note that indigenous groups had also been practicing agriculture along the rivers all through the Mojave and Sonoran deserts. Agriculture isn't the problem overall, unsustainable crops like alfalfa are.

Doesn't address the entire cities already there. We ain't forcing entire cities to just abandon ship.

It's far more useful if we talk about actually making what's already there sustainable rather than some authoritarian march out of the deserts.

So instead of being a prick like the person you're actually replying to I'll answer you. Blue zones are areas where the population regularly reaches over 100. The point they're making is the people over 100 in those areas usually seem to be doing pretty well, moving, some even run, and die suddenly (things just happen to turn downhill very fast when you're that old, nothing sinister implied)

I feel like threads like this also make a good case that people really, REALLY, don't understand psychosis. Dude doesn't just hear a whisper in his brain and star murdering. Except that was before disarmament? Which the US and USSR (and now Russia and many others) signed on to. Trying to say that 50yo actions taken at the height of the cold war justify Russia's modern actions is outright horseshit.

Gravity is why people lean into turns in the first place.

Those molecules have velocity that's taking them past whatever body they're using for a gravity assist. The gravity of that body grabs the vessel and begins to pull it in, being pulled closer to the body generating that acceleration and not simply passing by. The previous vector doesn't just disappear. All that matters still wants to continue in that direction of travel, including the people. The result is people having to lean into the arc of the assist because their own momentum is still changing to the new vector.
