When I was at school, the bus was a charter from the company that ran the local public bus fleet. Every other time it was running public routes or just part of that companies reserve.

But this was in the UK, where dedicated school buses are exceptional.

Perhaps it was regional. I was also a kid in the UK (midlands) in the 80's and I, my brother and a few of the other lads from the estate went door to door with "penny for the guy" not everyone answered, but we got enough change to buy sweets.

I don't know what the limit is, but yeah there's a cut-off for when a pregnancy can be terminated without medical necessity. When there is medically necessary it can be performed later.

There would still be a need to convert DC to AC, both for that reason and for export to the grid, but the first thing a lot of appliances do is internally convert to DC anywhere. If it became the norm for homes to have a distributed DC supply, there could well be a cottage industry in replacing the PSU component springs up.
