A party official is sent to a village that hadn't been meeting it's quota.
He meets with the mayor and tells him "Trucks are coming tomorrow. The central committee has decreed you will fill them with your potato stockpile.
"As you say Comrade" says the mayor, "our potato stockpile is stacked high enough to reach God."
"God?" Retorts the official incredulously "There is no god in the Soviet Union!"
The mayor shrugs "There are no potatoes either"
As I type, I'm eating previously frozen pizza I put in a cold oven then turned on fan mode at 180. By the time it reached temperature it was evenly cooked
Some will some won't. The contrarians will never budge, the "I'm not anti-science, I just don't trust evidence I didn't gather myself" ones should. I suspect most flat-earthers are the former.
Nor did the Nexus 5x that followed it. I'm not sure about the first Pixel, but the Pixel 2 had AMOLED and mines still going strong, no burn in or screen issues of any kind, even despite me prying it off a couple of times to replace both the battery and usb port.
My desktop isn't a problem, but the Dell laptop issued by my employer is a pain. It can take over an hour to load the models I work on, so I only shut down over the weekend and sleep it weeknights. Every time some BS, probably hidden behind admin credentials by IBM will wake it up within 20 minutes. Luckily I've discovered pulling the power and leaving it in battery keeps it asleep.
When I had my house reinsulated last year I took the opportunity to run cables from every room to a small closet, and then a run from that closet to the router. Had some... experience, learning how to wire in the sockets, and right now only my office is connected with a bit of patch instead of the switch I'll eventually need to get the other rooms live, but it's so much more reliable than it was with WiFi or poweline. Not to mention that those technologies only just kept up with the 36Mb VDSL I've been stuck on for the last 10 years. Having ethernet means I'll actually be able to get the most out of the 500Mb FttP I'm getting next month.
Idk, assuming you have bills to pay you'll want to be able to get paying work in the future (especially since TFG won't be paying), which is harder if googling your name comes back with nothing but clown pictures.
If they simply forbade resale, it would be an unenforceable term. The obligation on them to buy it back (at an agreed price) in order to enforce the term likely makes it legal.

Basically, it is an issue humanity will likely have to solve eventually, but nowhere near as pressing as our current problems.
