  • I believe chemical castration is technically legal but only is the grey area under loopholes because its not disfiguring the convicted or doing physical damage. I suspect they are going to argue the physical castration is legal by consent because the convicted has to plea for it specifically? Unlikely he will live long enough to face that judgement in a Louisiana prison, regardless.

Edit: Still think its horrific no matter what loophole they try to use, our justice system is fucked even in cases as awful as this.

  • Apples to Oranges. This isn't about preventing TikTok users from seeing content the US deems harmful, it's the delivery mechanism for that content is such a gaping hole of security it doesn't even qualify as a backdoor espionage. It's going straight through the front door to gather data illicitly for reasons unknown. Adversarial nations are marked such for good reason and not a title lightly given.

TikTok isn't the only social media that should be banned here but I'm honestly struggling to understand why people are fighting so hard to defend it, it's a massive data leaking engine that harvests so much more information that it needs for people to share funny fortnite dances and cat videos. That and siix months from now if the ban goes through some other app is going to pop up to fill the void while existing apps and social media platforms have already been trying to cater to the short video sharing for a long time now.

  • I really don't care what any politician says. Trump and Carlson do not hold elected offices, they should have zero say in any government matter, foreign or domestic. Their alarmingly close alignment with particularly adversarial foreign entities should further disqualify anything they say.

  • The blue character in the background is Beast, though its mostly relevant he is known for having long blue hair and fur. Similar to what Logan found on his lover. The joke is on that final panel we also see a blue doll with a shaggy mane of similar color.

  • While what you said is factual, this also was the very specific reason she was brought to the set: the safe and professional handling of firearms and firearm analogous props. Her entire job was to ensure no one got shot. 18 months for manslaughter is a slap on the wrist.

  • Not ruining the fun is kind of the point, and not all hackers and cheaters are benevolent, greifing other players in their game.

Further more, every victory adds to the score for that planet and factoring into the galactic score, which is the primary vehicle for storytelling to the community. Which the Devs clearly want to be a community effort of the players and also feedsback into how they balance the game.

So cheaters or hackers adding a lot of false data or win to that pool could result in the devs overturning new content, nerfing existing items or buffing enemies to put the difficulty curve where they want it. I don't think many players would appreciate a sudden difficulty spike because cheaters made the game too easy.

  • Seems entirely unnecessary. My units have buzzers that go off when they complete a cycle. I also have a phone with a timer setting, I know a load of laundry will take approx 60min to accomplish per machine. I don't see the need to spend my time and money to create a more complex system.

  • Why the fuck does my appliance need wifi? It's not ordering refills for consumables when low at a great discount nor is it going to schedule it's own maintenance as it passes lifetime milestones or detects errors.

I don't want my fucking washer/dryer to text me when the load is done and I definitely don't want my fridge to alert me I'm low on milk or bread, or the door is open. That's such a huge backdoor for anyone looking to maliciously gather data and peer into my life, definitely without my consent.

  • Russia invaded Ukraine on false pretexts with the intent to use military action to overthrow a democratically elected government after their last attempt at coup/puppet government failed when their patsy fled the country after his failed attempt.

After the US failed to act in 2014 despite evidence of Russia starting proxy wars against Ukraine and annexing land illegally, and further muddied by Trump's attempts to withhold defense aid packages he was obligated by law to deliver.

So yes, US involvement has been justified and Ukraine has not only been happy for the assistance but requested more to ensure their freedom and prosperity doesn't vanish tomorrow with Putin's intent to rape the entire country.
