  • My opinion in an ideal world is to bring back asylums but do it proper this time with careful consideration for due process, checks and balances, and fair conditions.

But the realistic side of me knows that's a big ask and doesn't trust the government to do anything right.

There's also a part of me that thinks, for certain crimes it's a [I'm drawing a blank on the word here] that you're mentally-ill because no sane person would do and anyone that does should be in prison.

Ultimately I think asylums for the ones where there's no hope of improvement or that become murderous when off their meds, and remote rehab facility type things for the ones that are less serious.

  • My concern is judges that old not understanding the modern way of life for most people.

The life of a moden 25 year old and a 75 year old judge when he was 25 are so different they may as well have been from opposite ends of the world.

  • He should be prevented from being free in society since he has demonstrated he's too dangerous to be out unsupervised.

Whatever form that restriction takes is up for discussion, saying he's not fit to stand trial and then letting him loose is obviuosly not the answer.

  • That has to be it. They got drawn in by the beautiful shade of blue they make and gave everybody the experience of welding for 12 hours using only safety squints and a t-shirt.

And for everyone that doesn't know, UVC radiation is the bad kind of radiation (ionizing).

  • So, as I understand it, a boat (ship) operating in displacement mode is going to be the most efficient, up until that speed. Past that most of the additional power you put in is going into just shoving water out of the way that really doesn't want to, rather than fighting friction. Also it's where the entirety of your ship is trying to climb its own bow wave, so you're trying to push the whole boat up hill.

If you want to go faster than hull speed you need to have a different hull design like a semi-displacement or planing hull. These are a lot less fuel efficient than displacement hulls as well as some other dosadvantages with weight and bad weather, but if you want to go fast they are your only option.

TL;DR: it's sort-of a max speed. It's probably better to describe it as, the speed at which you need to go back to the drawing board for that vehicle.

  • So looking at a map.of New Yorks bays and ignoring depth and bridges I'm going to assume this is about 2 miles long or 10,560ft. I have no evidence and just eyeballed it.

Meaning if you can overcome the skin friction it has a hull speed of about 160mph...without planing.

Modern carriers have a hull speed in the neighborhood of 45mph (though officially the top speed is like 35mph) and normally cruise at 25-30mph so the slow pokes can keep up.

  • The beer I hate the most is Michelob Ultra. It's not even that it's gross, it's not that notable, I've had beers that made me want to vomit. MU is just so boring, it's so bland it's not even refreshing. If it was disgusting I could dismiss it at just "not my thing" but there was just nothing notable. If beer was body language, MU would be a shrug.

The most disgusting beer I've had was St Arnolds 5 O'clock Pills.

  • Bud Light was already a joke for being bad.

American Light Macro-Lagers are popular because they're cheap. But if you want to try one I'd recommend Coors Light over Bud Light. Also the US is hotter and a light beer is best when you've been out in 100°F heat for a while.

But if you want something better there are tons of other breweries all around the country. You'd probably have a hard time getting anything from the smaller ones in europe but you can probably get something from one of the larger ones like Shiner.

  • I think I could actually lay low pretty easy. Everything I'd buy people know I've been saving up for for a while. And they all take time to get even if you have the money so it wouldn't be all at once.

Plus my "dream [property/vehicle/hobby items/etc]" are all fairly atainable. Like theres a certain classic vehicle I want that usually goes for 20-30k just the configuration I want is a little difficult to find.
