google, as a corporation, has been pushing us all to move a particular way for years. it's most obvious in the YouTube recommendations algorithm which pushes right wing shit. their fonts platform just gives them more control over the entire web instead of just acting as an index.

i like… have complicated feelings on the guy. on the one hand, it's important to congratulate him on realizing the harm his actions did and working to undo all that. on the other he did years of harm that has yet to be undone and might never be undone. and everyone only gets so much grace. i'm glad he realized all his online friends were nazis and stopped hanging out with them, but on the other it's hard to trust the judgement of someone who hung out with nazis for years.

my standard is a person is allowed to vote for DJT exactly one time and receive grace. if you voted for him in 2016 i can see the possibility that you didn't grow up familiar with american greed corruption, and propaganda. i have a beloved friend who voted for him the first time she ever voted in this country because Hillary Clinton read to her as the corrupt authoritarian making populist promises and DJT the earnest well meaning media personality who works for the people. after he took office and she saw that he had tricked her, she started listening to different groups of Americans differently and never went along with him again.

everyone elso who continues to go along with him? there's no excuse. he's shown you over and over who he really is. he killed half a million americans mismanaging the pandemic. now he's disrupting our food supply lines to kill half a million more through starvation. you're deluding yourself if you don't think he'll kill another half million at least in his death camps. this is not a joke. this is not a game.

and so we're clear. yes. i'm selfish. i'm selfish because the root of my politics is what i want. i want my people to be happy. i want my jamaican friend to be prosperous and wise. i want my pakistani friend to be a thought leader who helps lift up women's voices in her homeland. i want my ukrainian friends' families to call them tomorrow morning to say that they're okay. i want my sudanese teammate to run a footrace in his native village without being shot. i want to know that each of these people are okay, and i want to eat a meal with them and to sing and to laugh and to dance. these are the things russia, israel, saudi arabia, qatar, the united states, north korea, and china take from me. i do not forgive them. i will not forget. all me and my people ask for is an easy life, one where we watch our daughters grow up and smell clean air. we cannot have this because of pharaoh, caesar, babylon, the colonizer, the patriarchy. and quite frankly, how dare they. who are they to take these basic human dignities away from us? and for what!? what do we get in return? we live in a protection racket. and fuck them for that.
