  • I think after taking breaks from some things that weren't great in the first place they lose their appeal, but yeah theyre getting worse too

  • I was addicted Reddit. I left after the gzd purge, and looking back it’s not at all appealing.

  • Stop giving them ideas. I feel like they’re going to ban those accounts just because you said that.

  • Yeah, that’s understandable. Were the numbers just rounding down, then?

  • We are all workers with the characteristics of a girl boss.

  • Does anyone know if there’s an English Al Mayadeen RSS feed?

  • Has anyone here read Fresh Banana Leaves? I’m a couple chapters in and I’ve learned some, but mostly heard things better from others. It seems pretty repetitive and uses weird overly simplistic weird language. And [maybe this is my settler revisionism or something] but it seems to homogenize indigeneity a bit.

  • I just finished reading it. A lot of information for the length, and probably helpful for baby leftists. It would’ve been nice to have an explanation of why countries do imperialism, ie why growth is necessary, why the rate of profit tends to fall, but of course that might be a bit of an overload, considering the information density already.

I noticed a few factual errors, though. You falsely refer the the Mujahadeen as the Taliban twice. The mujahadeen is the group that split off into various groups like the Taliban and Al Qeada after extensive support from the west and the ISI. The Soviet casualties in WWII are lowballed to 20 m rather than a more accurate 27-29 m. It’s probably just nitpick-ey, and I understand why you would want a round number, but we all know the CIA tried to kill Castro more than 600 times. Finally, you put the impact of the embargo on Cuba at around 150 b, I’ve actually seen an estimate of 1 t (in the book Socialism or Extinction, I can look for the citation).

  • Thanks, I think I’m good with recipes, as I can just look things up. It’s just annoying how most people don’t look at labels or assume that there’s no other way to make, say, French toast, than with eggs.

  • Idk about Che, but that’s Fidel Castro. Fidel was socially progressive in his later years, and Che probably would’ve been but his life was cut short. Today Cuba is a world leader in queer rights, especially considering the 2022 family referendum.

  • My pfp? Yes. It’s a fun game, but I keep finding more flaws in the book. Socialism or Extinction does a much better job, but it’s unfortunately not up to date.

  • I’ve been “freegan” or more accurately an opportunistic vegetarian for a while, occasionally eating stuff with whey in it or donuts, so I’m finally going totally vegan. In addition I’m back on social media, and I promise to use it more responsibly.

  • It was a weird way of putting it, but what they are pointing to is that Kissinger opened up relations with China in the 70’s, “supporting them” by promoting the development plan they would follow.

  • Weird but not nonsensical.

  • TIL the intolerant left hate Kissinger but tankies love him (j)

  • Another crackkka down.
