They think it's discrimination against straight white males now and think they are going to get sued by someone with a rejected job offer because the decision may have been made due to skin colour, gender, or sexual orientation.
A gay man can sue if he was not hired because he was gay, these people think eventually a straight man can sue if he wasn't hired because he wasn't gay.
Which may happen with Trump in power now, I wouldn't be surprised if he started working on laws that will allow people to do that
I think the main issue is if you have two candidates for one job, one is white and one is black, even if the best candidate for the job is the white candidate the company might be forced to hire the black candidate to meet the DEI policies.
I have no idea if that actually happens or not, but I think that's what the entitled white people think and get upset about. They feel is discrimination against white people now.
Just goes to show how corporations actually feel about diversity and equality. They're all racist, sexist and homophobic but they all write their policy to appear like they aren't until they are allowed to show their true colours.
Each province/territory would insist on being its own state so Canada would at least probably become 10 blue states and 3 red states if not 11/2. Not sure how Manitoba would swing.
I mean, I kind of take exception to that quote. Wildlife doesn't "evolve" to take into account 1/10,000 year events. That's like saying an animal evolves to deal with meteor strikes. It just doesn't happen. You can't evolve to deal with entire islands being run over and demolished because it just doesn't happen often enough to be a significant selection pressure. It's just bad luck.
Sure the ecosystem of the ocean will be fine, because icebergs are part of the ocean and part of its ecosystem. But the wildlife within that ocean may be significantly affected like entire populations being wiped out.
It's like saying global warming isn't an issue because the earth will survive and adapt. Most species alive today will go extinct, but the earth will survive.
Most of the world had respect for America before Maga surfaced and it was revealed that it was full of Morons and Nazis. At least more than was suspected before.
America had $357 billion dollars worth of imports from Canada in 2023, if they introduce a 25% tarriff Americans will pay $446 billion instead because it's not like you'll get all that stuff anywhere else for cheaper since America is going to put tariffs on practically every other country they trade with apparently.
Corporations spend billions on the current infrastructure and trade routes and logistics, they will not uproot everything and go through the pains of firing everyone then moving to America and retraining because of a short term loss. American administrations are fickle, many of them will simply wait out the 4 years hoping it will return to normal then. If it doesn't then maybe they might consider it then but for the next 4 years Americans are going to be paying a shitload more for anything that's not made in America.
American businesses will also find it a lot more difficult to sell their products out of the country when those countries retaliate with tarriffs against them.
Unfortunately it's quite unpolished. It works in certain areas for certain things but it's by now means a decent replacement for what someone expects from Google maps.
It's great for being free and for what it is but it doesn't compare yet. Maybe one day.
Everyone in any sort of official role needs to stop playing around Trump.
Make it public and officially known how much the world despises Trump. Call him out publicly, don't give false polite greetings be gruff and rude to him. Fuck it if there are tariffs. Trump needs to know that friends are more valuable than enemies.
Not that I think dismantling the department of education is in any way a good idea, these morons know that it takes time to dismantle entire institutions, no? Like you can't just not hire someone to run it and then hope everything falls into place. You hire someone to dismantle it.

I bought stock for like $650 a few years ago and then sold it at $800. Sort of regret it.
