Lucky. I couldn't get HDR working properly, and most of my GPU features were missing because Nvidia refuses to support Linux (and AMD GPUs can't keep up). So I had to go back to Windows.
Been trying to switch to Linux since 2004. I'll try again in 5 years.
Yeah but the Source engine is actually good. It was so far ahead of its time that I still think Half-Life 2 can hold up to modern standards. Gamebryo/Creation was never good.
And to be fair, every drivable vehicle mod I've tried in Fallout games was janky.
But to be even more fair, you can't blame the modders. It's Bethesda's fault for using an engine from 1997, and simply slapping a fresh coat of paint on it for every new release.
Actually, the pixels go completely black and do not consume any electricity at all in that state.
You might be thinking of early OLEDs, which had to stay on at all times to prevent blur/smearing. But panel manufacturers solved that problem a few years ago. Don't remember exactly when the change happened, but I remember first seeing true black OLEDs sometime around 2017/2018.
Few things frustrate more than a fellow leftist who still refuses to arm themselves in today's climate. I truly believe that the world needs fewer guns, but read the room for fuck's sake. There are far too many people in the US that want our kind dead, simply because we exist. All they need is for their God Emperor to say the word.
I mean I get it. Sometimes fixing that evap leak isn't worth it, especially given how much of a pain it can be to find the source. I've ignored my fair share of check engine lights.
But a lot of it can be ignorance and/or laziness too. I fixed an airbag light once simply by disconnecting and reconnecting the wires under the seats. Apparently a weight sensor was malfunctioning but it was just a bad connection due to oxidizing wires. Took 30 seconds to fix, and an additional 5 minutes to look up the technique for clearing the code. But I'm wiling to bet that your average driver wouldn't even think to investigate. A piece of electrical tape over the light is so much simpler.
True. Public wifi doesn't like it when you use your own DNS servers cause it makes it slightly harder for them to spy on you and inject ads into web pages.
Thankfully all you gotta to is switch the DNS setting to Off (or Automatic), then re-enable it when you're home. Takes 10 seconds.
LMAO well said. It sucks that we really don't have a decent alternative to reddit. I miss my niche subs.
Digg should have never released V4. It was reddit's only competition, but now it's a soulless, corporate curated media platform. You can't even comment anymore.
GoG, but I really appreciate you trying to help. I already tried the 4GB patch and I don't remember if I tried IStewieAI because it's been over a year since I last tried running the game, and I have ADHD. I'll look into that and the rest. Thanks.
It has the best story of all the Fallouts, by-far. Really amazing what they managed to pull off with only 18 months of development time. But because of the rushed schedule, the game is also extremely buggy. I would not recommend playing it without mods that fix the bugs and restore missing content that wasn't finished in time for release. It also doesn't play well with modern OSes. Some people have had success running it on newer PCs but for me it's been hit or miss. Don't let that discourage you from trying it, though. It's such a good game that it's worth putting some effort into trying to get it to run.
I'm probably going to get hate for this, but do you know if any mods that allow the game to work in Windows 11? None of the fan patches I could find in the Nexus actually work, even if they claim they are for Win11 users. The game still crashes constantly. I'm seriously considering digging my old gaming PC out of storage just so I can play NV one last time.
How's the game in Linux? Haven't tried it there yet cause it barely runs in Win7, an OS it was designed for (but at least it runs), so I didn't even try it in Linux cause I'm doubtful it'll work any better than it does in 11.
As much as I love smoking meats, steak in a smoker is disappointing every time. I've found that pan frying in cast iron with butter provides the most consistently delicious steaks. Even better than the grill because the all the tasty juices stay in the pan and infuse with the meat.
Edit: Second best is Sous vide, finishing it off on the stove for a good sear (or hit it with a blowtorch to minimize cleanup). Perfect "set and forget" method because the juices also stay with the steak and it won't cook beyond your preset temperature, resulting in a perfect medium-rare every time.
No idea; I rarely buy them.
