  • First, they'd have to be white leftists. Then they'd also need to have money. Last, they'd have to be doing what establishment leadership already wants to do. Really, it's just the last bit - good luck with that! lol

DEI programs are expensive. They would've cut them years ago if they didn't think it bought good PR. It was always just marketing, as these programs aren't mandated by law

  • Yeah, I think the problem was we just assumed everyone agreed with us on that. Those algorithms are real! lol. It's apparently more and more difficult to even conceive of people that may disagree with us

Still, it's legit surprising how many Dems assumed we'd have literally every Biden supporter voting again just because that's what happened last time. I mean, I'm a fairly annoying nonwhite feminist and even I still think not using a white man as the candidate has been an unnecessary risk each time - especially when you consider the policies the DNC will enact are the exact same anyway.

Man.. real economic change that benefits the working class would be so sick - a guy can dream

  • Ok, we can agree to disagree on the effectiveness of that political strategy. I've yet to see it succeed, personally, and I think it just kind sucks how our party is so unwilling to compromise/work with literally anyone that doesnt fully support the Democratic party's neoliberal agenda - tax cuts for the rich and of course more bombs (except gay soldiers are also allowed to launch them at brown people)

It's wild how y'all can't even see it or just immediately assume I'm a trump supporter or something. lol. Reactionary politics/ideologies are so silly, imo

  • Yeah, I've just got the book "Enemy of All Mankind" which is about the period of time when the East India Co. was just getting going. Apparently that time intersects with three big shifts: the first international pirate manhunts, the start of the British Empire, and the creation of the corporation. It tells a crazy story and I absolutely loved it

  • Every American should learn about the so called zoot suit "riots"

White American sailors got in a fight with Mexican Americans. It's unclear what started it but the following actions of American sailors provides good context. After the initial fight, sailors started to randomly target Mexican-Americans and jumping them. Of course, there was retaliation and it got really crazy - I won't spoil it for anyone interested.

The reason I mention it is because it's fascinating to see how media organizations like the LA Times covered it. They unanimously blamed "gangs" of Mexicans and didn't blame demonstrably racist American sailors whatsoever - they were obviously brave patriots, and not you know fuckin fascists

  • Have you spent any time trying to understand the recent events that happened in Amsterdam? It seems like Israelis were the instigators and participating in despicable behavior, according to first-hand reports, but I'm absolutely open to being corrected - this is a developing story, afaik

I'll admit I find comments blindly defending authoritarian racists advocating for an ongoing genocide deeply concerning, myself.

  • Hasan Poker ain't for everyone but he's super knowledgeable and provides great context for ongoing issues. I mainly watch on YouTube so the clips are edited down and even more context (charts, sources, etc) are added.

  • You can/should try to understand how that's logically sound

For example, if you never exercise and eat terrible shit your entire life, you can expect every doctor's visit to be worse than the last. Same with the dentist or going to the mechanic when you fail to do required maintenance.

  • Hmm.. not bad. I only watched 5ish min, but he seems genuine - that is to say, he realizes he fucked up, not that he'll actually change anything

More interesting, to me, as someone that had only heard about this from headlines, you can clearly see the mental illness pervasive in his community by looking at the comments and even moreso by looking at the guy's room. Dude is someone we should pity, not hate - granted I understand influencers having massive platforms, and well influence

Still, I wish we could be more like the Palestinians and Arabs he mentions, that checked on him to see if he was ok, instead of the knee-jerk, quick to react Americans we are, that are ready to pounce on a fallen neighbor enemy and eager to find ways we're different to further divide ourselves
