  • I went on Hawaiian airlines and they have ads. Not like TV, but like they'd have product placements. It felt weird but I was okay with it because I think it was "local?" They also pitched a bunch of local alcohols and drinks for purchase too.

And watching their little TV also includes those ads. Usually before the show.

I usually bring my own device.

  • Currently reading Nobodys Normal by anthropologist Roy Richard Grinker.

It's a hard read as I'm constantly googling how he did his research. But I do absolutely agree with his theory that "normal" assumes there's a baseline of what that looks like. And that data is impossible to get at the current time, only when you look back on it.

For example, we have data to identify what normal can look like in 1920 based on averages. But it'll be pretty racist and not what people want to hear, and it's also missing a lot like accurate health records and the huge percentage of people who were misdiagnosed or undocumented.

Overall, I agree. There is no normal.

  • You know how when you think about breathing, you start to "think" about breathing? How it moves in and out of the body? And then you learn all other weird things about breathing?

Do you really want to understand ball science? To understand where things move and go around and flex?

Why I'm trying to say is sometimes, ignorance is bliss.

  • I found it super uncomfortable to answer that in high school.

Then in my 20s, I'd go, "Yeah haha I guess I do."

And now my 30s, "I jag off twice a day. Three times on a good day!"

And every time, id get the same kinda approved nod.

Either masturbation has become normalized or I just give jerk off vibes.

  • Actually weird question that Ive been puzzling.

You know those anime girls who try to be obnoxiously cute, where they raise their voice to a high pitch? Then off screen, they're back to their regular tone?

For people with high pitched voices... Is that a choice?

  • I was blown away when I was promoted to a management position and realized none of the other managers I worked with read any books on management or had any real experience. Many fell into the management position and just kept doing fuck all.

Not saying the overeducated is better. We later got some Wharton grads who were thrown into the management space and they were the most dumbest MFs I ever met. Their theories would go against reality and at no point did they understand the work involved.

  • I aspired to work in education in college and took a lot of courses on adult education and how to teach people. I recognized that my favorite teachers in K-12 used those techniques , while realizing none of it was done at the college level.

I don't work in education but I find myself using those techniques all the time in the workplace. And there's a clear difference between my department's onboarding and capabilities versus others.

  • I worked in a bunch of tech.

Startup CEOs are often folks who rolled really high on Charisma and convinced a lot of people to give them money. Often they have a spark of genius, but if they were really smart, they'd hand over power to people smarter than them. That's how major companies are founded. Then they settle back down.

The dumb ones are egotistical and many end up failing upwards, as they continue being propped up by other until money disappears and they break enough friendships that they end up in jail.

  • I love in the US and every year and my brother-in-law is an American jew. Last year it was shit from conservative racists. Today, it's shit because of something Israel did.

My guy is just trying to live his life and gets shit from so many sides.

  • You absolutely can! Ive been doing something similar.

Two devices - one that's a mini computer, and the other is a phone.

That mini computer is a old phone without a network plan. And if it doesn't have wifi, I can't jump onto social media or anything. Which is pretty nice as I'm reading books or writing on that device with "less" distractions. And if I get a text message, i quickly check it on my phone and put it away.
