If you have a small space and don’t print a lot, I love my thermal printer. It’s the size of a sturdy, old-fashioned 3-hole-punch. Portable and battery-operated. There is no ink. The special paper’s kind of expensive, but it doesn’t dry out or send you codes saying you can’t print when it obviously can. And they make BPA-free thermal paper now.

I see. I suppose I just can’t concieve of using the term “morally lazy” that way about someone other than myself, because I don’t know their morals or their barriers? So my thought in terms of the statement was solely “Is it morally lazy of me?0

Life is a series of questions leading to more questions. Wouldn’t go down this particular rabbit hole though. There are answers, and they are not pretty.

I support you doing this, but I have physical impairments and no car, so I’m choosing between dystopias already.

A better way to put it might be “If you value FOSS and have the technical know-how to use an alternative, it’s morally lazy?”

If things are bad enough that NY goes red, how I voted is the least of our problems.

I mean actually red or blue states. Georgia’s dynamics have been moving centerward for years, and people who pay attention to that stuff knew that.

Explain it as “People love each other. Sometimes it’s a boyand a girl. Sometimes it’s two boys or two girls. (Not getting into enbys since this is 101.). And sometimes people, whoever they love, want to build a life together.”

That’s only true if you live in a swing state. If your state’s certain to go one way or the other, vote your conscience, even if it’s a write-in.

That’s not the question, though. There will always be imbalances of power. Transitioning to a “nonhierarchical” society just ends up with a bunch of power dynamics festering while no one talks about them because they’re not supposed to exist. Obviously there’s such a thing as too much concentrated power, but having spent fairly significant time in contexts where people believe there’s no hierarchy, I like my hierarchies out where I can see them, rather than waiting to stab me from the shadows.

Plus, there’s the warlord problem: Other people don’t stop using hierarchy just because you do.

People know that. But power isn’t divided that way. So when people look to alternatives to federal power, they usually look to the existing political infrastructure of states, not, for instance, less-organized/-powerful counties.

Theoretically, equal protection on the basis of sex would mean you couldn’t commandeer a pregnant person’s body for gestation because there are protections for impregnable citizens’ bodily integrity. Practically, the people in power quite obviously don’t care about the law when it doesn’t suit them.
