I remember when I tried setting up a server a couple decades ago and I didn't understand what the difference between a white and black list were. Made no sense to me.
Allow/block can't be mistaken. It's literally a better choice of words for many reasons.
Lemmy users only want to use foss and not pay a single penny. How dare you suggest they pay a tiny amount to help pay for servers and the creators they're watching!
Ignoring everything after Google maps is ignorant as hell. I mean Google Photos is literally used by a massive percentage of iPhone users as well, because it's so good.
It's easier to buy known brands, fix them, and get users back, than it is to try and get users to download a newly created series.
People also thought Microsoft was stupid for buying Mojang for 2.5 BILLION, because "everyone who already wants the game already bought the game".
Ignoring the fact that entire new generations have been born and become obsessed with it, play on bedrock with the market place, and buy all of the Minecraft merch. Also all of the other games they've launched with the Minecraft branding since.
I've moved away from a lot of Google services after the Terraria developers Google account was banned for no reason, and it took threatening the Stadia release of Terraria to get attention.
I'd move to Windows phone in 2023.
I understand why Microsoft gave up on it, because they were essentially choked out by the fact Google refused to publish their apps on it, but it sucks. Wish they kept going.
Hate to break it to you, but most companies only comply if you're in a GDPR country. Otherwise nothing has changed. That's why it is far from benefiting "us all".
You may want to if you can't see a difference.
