  • Cyberpunk 2077 sorta explores this a bit.

There’s a vending machine that has a personality and talks to people walking by it. The quest chain basically has you and the vending machine chatting a bit and even giving the vending machine some advice on a person he has a crush on. You eventually become friends with this vending machine.

When it seems like it’s becoming more apparent it’s an AI and is developing sentience, it turns out the vending machine just has a really well-coded socializing program. He even admits as much when he’s about to be deactivated.

So, to reiterate what you said: predictive text and LLMs are not alive nor a mind.

  • Ideally, we’d be able to have a healthy mix of hotels either in or near city centers and short-term rentals for maybe tourist destinations that are away from the center, with a hard limit on how many AirBNBs and hotels can be existing at a time. The idea sounds nice on paper, at least.

Adam Something made a video on how awful AirBNBs are for locals, and the same concept applies to a lot of places where it’s mainly hotels in the area.

  • Dammit OP, I trusted you and fell for your tricks :(

  • God is omnipotent, which means they don’t make mistakes.

Actually, no - the dictionary definition of omnipotent is literally being able to do anything. God being faultless is a different thing entirely and depending on how you interpret scripture, that is a false statement. He regrets making humans, so you could argue he sees humans as his own mistake - which is an entirely different kind of fucked-up for another day’s topic.

So whomever is running the simulation would be omnipotent, because they are literally making whatever happens in our universe happen by running a simulation of a universe.

EDIT: meant “everything” instead of “anything” but fuck it

  • If they plan on incorporating the content usually talked about for those programmes into the usual history curriculum, then sure - I am for all this.

But if they’re just gonna censor and whitewash history then fuuuuuuuuck no please.

  • both have people believe humans are part of a greater design

both include some otherworldly figure either observing or mandating how we live our lives

both reject the idea that maybe we’re just fuckin’ here because we are just fuckin’ here

Love how some people are legitimately proving this meme in the comments.

  • That’s extremely strange. I’m curious - in your experiences, are these usually Canadian-born people or do they sound like they could be from America?

  • Is this the sequel to Window XP’s Bliss?

  • You haven’t said “2024 will be the year” because you’re thinking life will be depressing from here on out and nothing will improve.

I haven’t said “2024 will be the year” because it’s always “the year” for me regardless of what I say or don’t say.

    We are not the same.
