  • What problem did they have? I had a Ford with a 5R55E in it. I don't recall reading about any issues with them.
The 6F35 had an issue with one of the pressure plates breaking, resulting in some very hard shifts between 3rd and 4th gear. I also experienced it when shifting from park to drive or reverse.
The DPS6 actually had a lawsuit against Ford they were so bad. For some stupid reason they kept the clutch dry and that could cause catastrophic failure in some dangerous situations.

  • Patrick Stewart was in Oblivion. And Sean Bean, too.

  • I feel that. I was rocking an S8 I got Black Friday 2017, but I finally had to upgrade in March to an S23. The battery just couldn't get through the day anymore and I didn't want to go through the hassle of swapping the battery myself. I couldn't ship it somewhere to get it done either as I use it for work purposes.

I was perfectly content with the S8, otherwise. I could have used it for another 5 years if the battery was easily swappable.

I'm hoping my S23 will last me another 5.5 years (I enabled battery save mode so it only charges to 85%, which is more than enough for me). And by that point, I hope Fairphone has a flagship that's good enough to switch to.

  • Prices for the batteries and panels themselves have dropped. Just not the cost to install them.

  • Another good resource is to check out the YouTube channel, Jarrod's Tech. He focuses almost exclusively on gaming laptops, but will cover from the top of the line beasts, to very budget ones. He's also thorough with what he looks at and covers in each video. Would recommend.

  • Beyond All Reason if you're looking for an RTS similar to Supreme Commander. I haven't tried playing it in a few years though. I'm sure it's gotten some updates since then.

  • You're still useful! You can use your claws to protect your teammates' eyes! See, you're still contributing to the team.

  • However, if you are set on upgrading, I'd look at any of their 6000 series, from the 6600 on up to the 6950XT. I don't recommend anything below the 6600 from that generation. Since you didn't give a price range, I gave you a GPU range. All of those GPU's are getting heavy discounts and they're all solid cards. Only thing to note is if you go for the 6800XT and above to make sure your power supply can handle it. While they weren't as bad as Nvidia, they could still suck down power.
I think I would personally recommend the 6700XT. I believe it has 12 GB of VRAM which will help it last longer in the coming years. 8 GB just doesn't cut it anymore.

  • I was thinking more like Horizon: Zero Dawn, but Skynet is also very fitting.

  • Moldly interesting

  • Adam Young, the guy behind Owl City has made albums under different names, including his own. One of the bands is Port Blue; he made an almost purely instrumental (only vocals are the first few seconds of the second track) album called The Airship. It feels rather experimental, but I use it to calm down. The other works are under his own name: Apollo 11, Project Excelsior, and Voyager 1.

All are well made and they tell a story through the instrumental music. Would recommend.

If I'm looking to maximize my relaxation, then it's hard to go wrong with Sleepy Fish. Chill beats all the way.

If you want acoustic guitar playing that you probably never experienced before, then check out Alan Gogoll. Love his stuff. Always nice to listen to. His song Mulberry Mouse is a favorite of mine.

Aether also has a few instrumental albums. Eshajori is a very melancholic feeling album. Gives me a lonely, empty feeling, but I love it all the same.

In a completely different direction, but you could check out The Glitch Mob. Definitely electronic, but I wouldn't say EDM.

That's all I have on my phone at the moment. Hopefully these are good starts.

  • I know you're being sarcastic but the cash for clunkers, while it worked pretty well, worked a little too well. Since that program it got harder to find cheap, old vehicles. Sure, they were inefficient, but they were cheap. Cheap cars don't seem to exist much anymore.

  • "The challenge is that no single cause can be identified for the declining rate." Sure you can: capitalism.

  • I think upgrading to a 6600 would be a good choice. That will net you a sizable jump in performance for the price. According to TechPowerUp, the 6600 is about 70% better than the 1060 6GB. If you were to upgrade anything else, I would say the power supply. Paired with the 8700 and 6600, yours will be perfectly fine. But if you were to upgrade to, say, a 3080 or above, then a beefier supply would be required.

Edit: The 6600 only runs on 8 PCIe lanes instead of the regular 16. This isn't an issue with newer hardware, but since your CPU doesn't support PCIe Gen 4 speeds (only Gen 3), you may experience lower performance. Idk if it will be significant. Mostly because 8 PCIe Gen 3 lanes should be enough to not bottleneck the 6600. I believe Hardware Unboxed, Gamer's Nexus, or another channel tested that, but I'm on mobile and don't feel like searching for it.

  • I gave to them once or twice before the pandemic showed up. It was something I wanted to do, but never could since I was never financially able to.
I stopped once I found an article showing that Wikipedia is not hurting for money at all, yet they kept groveling for money. I think it also said the CEO/owner was keeping a lot of the money for themself which I was not a fan of.

  • In the article it mentioned that Framework isn't against third party mods like a swappable battery where the gpu slot goes. With this in mind, I'm sure there will be third party options with different mouse pads that actually have buttons.
Unless there physically isn't enough space.

  • I would call it /c/ringe instead. Kind of like /r/thritis back on Reddit.
