  • Ooh, I didn't know about that setting. Had the same too many attempts thing recently so I've turned those off too. Thanks.

  • I've read the legislation and watched a fair bit of the senate enquiry into it. We don't know yet what "reasonable steps" are to "assure" someone's age (because they get published in legislative rules that have not been authored yet), but they don't necessarily require linking with a RL identity. An example was given that it would likely be "reasonable" for Facebook to assume that the account holder is at least 16 if the account is more than 16 years old. So given mine is turning 17 in November I personally don't expect any Meta products to ask me to assure my age using any method that involves my government identity.

Additionally, affected social media platforms can't ask for government ID if that is the only age assurance method they offer. Some other methods include user interaction (does the user write posts like someone who is >16?) and facial age estimation (do they look >16 in their face pics?).

I'm just saying no need to panic and plan ahead for deletion just yet. If the legislative rules are "good" (as good as they can be in the circumstances) then you might not notice a different at all.

  • What are your specific concerns with the legislation? Are you expecting to be asked to upload your passport to continue using Instagram or something similar?

  • Ugh we so need Worldvision

  • This is both too much and not enough

  • It sounds like you are struggling more than usual. You need to reach out to either a person you trust or a support service.

  • Absolutely!! I sometimes get a large and the staff discount depending on who is working 😁

  • Aussie Zone is definitely captured by the new laws because the definition of "age-restricted social media platform" is so broad.

However, the legislative rules (which are not published yet and can be changed at any time by the relevant minister) would likely exclude platforms below a certain size. The rules are the same document that will include Snapchat but exclude video games, for example.

I think once the rules are published there's going to be a lot of criticism and, hopefully, revisions. It doesn't make sense that Aussie Zone be so restrictive about user age.

  • I've got a few numbers in the rolodex I'd call on if that was the mood. 😏

  • Mine was IV but it did make everything taste like rusty metal for a bit after. Hoping to never need the drink version!

  • Had iodine contrast this morning, and it did NOT make me feel like I'd pissed myself. I would request a refund if it wasn't bulk billed, but I might just piss myself for real in protest.

  • Can get such a good deal on two pairs of glasses at Specsavers right now, including a pair of polarised prescription sunglasses, but their range is either tack and el cheapo, or obscenely priced for what it is. I'm thinking my gorgeous features deserve better?

  • This is very human behaviour, totally normal.

What helps me with this specifically is saying "What if it all works out?" or the similar inverse of whatever your worry is. "I might fuck up my interview and say something dumb" becomes "What if we get on so well, they toss out their questions and we just start chatting like old friends?"

It's not like πŸ•‰οΈ woowoo positive ✨ mantras ✨and manifestation stuff. It's literally tricking you brain to make good chemicals instead of bad ones.

  • Wow, fog! It's so thick too! Can't see the tops of adjacent skyscrapers in the city at all.

  • This flavour (fragrant mint) has an interesting minty floral kinda jasmine-like taste, another option!

  • Is it the mint you can't do, or were you just looking for cinnamon flavour? The samples of this toothpaste I ended up with have definitely got a cinnamon/mint flavour. Comes in two flavours, not sure about the other one.

  • The word "effect" in the community description is incorrect, it should be "affect".

  • No splitty is gonna suck :( I would do everything you can to reduce humidity. Get a squeegee for the shower, shower early in the morning, do clothes drying and automatic dishwashing the day before if possible. Fill up ice trays for smoothies and iced coffee too.
