  • What if you do it with weed though? Drug tests for stuff like cocaine and meth aren't very reliable but testing positive for nonpsychoactive thc metabolites on every drug test for the next 4 months because you had to smoke a joint to "fit in" is going to have a good chance at threatening any government employee's career. They normally let people go over that in a heartbeat no matter how valuable they are. I'm having a hard time believing that there would ever be any situation where the feds wouldn't fire one of their own people over thc. Company policy usually trumps all other reasoning. Under the federal drug free workplace policy if you test positive you get fired. That's the rule.

  • Fucking reddit. This one asshat had been harassing me for months and blatantly violating reddit TOS multiple times. Admins gave zero fucks. Eventually somehow I got banned instead of him. What a shithole.

  • For $1000, I wonder if someone could rig together a very shitty way of making low quality anvils out of garbage like aluminum or very shitty steel/cast iron and pass it off as a "real anvil" that I found in the dump or something.

That would be a lot of work of course but in today's economy and job market, a huge amount of effort just to get $1000 isn't necessarily a waste of time especially if you can do it multiple times before they find out.

  • We are totally screwed because now they're going to put these in cheap laptops and peddle them to the elderly and the non-technically inclined who don't know any better. Then, us tech people have to deal with "why is my Windows 11 pentium 3 pc so goddamned slow"

  • But they make the z80 and they're so proud of the shitty 8 bit processor they made 50 years ago so they're forcing people to use it and pay modern prices for it. They eventually made an ez80 which is like the z80 but better in some ways and it sounds impressive but if you ever try to design a homebrew computer out of one, you'll find that it's not very worthwhile due to the lack of a external wait state insertion pin and if you want to build something better than a z80 or 6502 homebrew, there are better choices than an ez80.

  • I made my graphics card watercooled because I couldn't fit it in my case with the bigass extra long heatsink. It's complicated. I used a universal gpu water block, some small heatsinks for the mosfets and vram and thermal glue to hold the heatsinks on but I fucked up because that fucking glue is like 75% as strong as epoxy. Now that I have an actual proper gpu waterblock, I can't install it because of this shit. I guess the takeaway from this is to not do dumb stuff like I did, so at least you didn't do that.

  • Having problems with games sometimes is better than having less problems with games at the cost of your system being bloated, slow and designed in such a way that when it breaks you can't do anything about it besides sfc /scannow and when that doesn't work as usual, a complete os reinstall. Linux saves me time but that's only because it's possible to have the skill to fix all the random issues you run into, unlike with Windows.

  • My hot take is that it's not like most of those independent artists are getting compensated fairly by the companies that own them anyway if at all. Stealing ai training content is just stealing from corporations. Corporations who are probably politically fighting to keep things worse for the average person in your country.

Theft is "a crime" but I never saw anyone complaining about how unfair it was all those times I myself got fucked over by google bullshitting their way out of giving me my ad revenue. If normal people can't profit from stuff like this, we shouldn't be doing anything to protect the profits of evil corporations.

  • I like elite dangerous but I don't like that you have to spend hundreds of hours grinding just to accomplish even the most minor gameplay advancement. No Man's Sky and Starfield are more playable space games that that grindfest. I wish someone would just remake elite dangerous for normal people.

  • I really think people are just mad that we got Skyrim in space instead of just another Skyrim. Medival sword rpg games have been done to death. Yawn. I agree that they dropped the ball on the modding situation and fucking suck for it but that's not why people dislike Starfield. If we instead got elder scrolls 6, it would have been of exactly the same quality and have all the same issues yet people would be pissing their pants in excitement just because it's elder scrolls. Downvote me, idgaf

  • The difference is that with Linux, it's possible to become smart enough to fix all the issues. Windows is designed in such a way that there usually isn't a way to fix its problems to avoid format and reinstalls no matter how much you know.
