  • On this point, it would be stupidly hard.

Just from a programming and software perspective. All the old code that runs banks and the back end of air travel. It barely runs as it is, do a switch up of years, even leaving the months alone and it would probably freak out. Standadize the months while you are at it and the whole thing falls apart.

Are you old enough to remember Y2K? That required a lot of techs to spend a huge amount of time fixing code that was never intended to see years change from 19xx to now just even consider 20xx.

That is before we go about changing paper Birth Documents, marriage documents, house deads, ..... Should I go on?

  • The amount of people addicted to caffeine who don't even know it is crazy high.

The costs of withdrawing for some are higher than others, so for these people quitting isn't just a day or two of headaches, and possibly their life doesn't afford them the luxury of going through the pain and low productivity

Many factors play into it rather than just low self control, in case you're wondering why you got down voted.

  • Legally the product is no longer their priority, maximising shareholder profits is their priority.

Not many companies manage to not get twisted to a worse product for the customers, though their ads get really good

  • It would be interesting to see this not including infant mortality.

From my understanding that is where most of the "life gain" in graphs like this have come from.

A graph of how much older people are living would be better represented "ignoring" for lack of a better word the babies dying

  • This graph really just makes me think we are fucked, like really fucked, easily in the span of a human life time, if not a few years.

How will this not have crazy knock on effects?

Yet I still go to work and plan for the future and just live my life in some sort of daze. Still tell myself I'll find a wife and have kids one day.

I wonder if I just allow myself to live the ignorance is bliss life, the embodiment of the "this is fine" meme, like so many on this world. Easier just to go with the human flow as we slowly all jump off the cliff like a herd of buffalo.

  • I feel like I am slowly moving all my data being with Google to Proton. Makes me a bit uncomfortable to be all under one umbrella again.

At least so far it seems they are a decent company

  • Worth saying I am sort of playing devils advocate here.

Change it to what? It is easy to back seat yell "Capitalism Bad" but change to what? Every other isim has it's own laundry list of issues. Which one is least corruptible by sosciopaths?

You don't think sosciopaths are going to take more than there fair share in socialism, or skew the system over time? They aren't going to find their may to the top in every single form of government to change the rules to their desires?

Quite a few will argue that we aren't even in capatalisim any more, it has been corrupted and changed, massaged by "government" to the point of failure, the Austrian school of economics.

So it is easy to stand on the roof top and say "Capitalism is the problem" but it seems like a much deeper rot to me

  • Three screens billed as "business expense" actually used as a sim racing rig.

But you will end up filling any screen space you have. When coding I very quickly fill out the space, to see files and folders I am intereacting with, communication apps, websites, IDE, ticket screen. Some days I wish I had 4.
