It's pretty easy if you want to try it. Both can coexist happily if say, you put all of RetroDECK on a micro SD card (the roms, emulators, bios, mods, texture packs etc all live on the SD card)
I've seen a lot try it out next to EmuDeck, and then make their mind up that way!
Like most with a Steam Deck, I started with EmuDeck. It's fine, and clearly used by the vast, vast majority but like you I just had my issues with it.
I had 3 emulators installed and the data (stored in like 289745873407 difference folders in obscure places) was around 32GBs. I love that RetroDECK can exist solely on the SD card, with no problems with performance at all. And that radial dial?! Magic!

Rinse and repeat. Literally the definition of free. And don't act like I didn't remind users that this is done via an Amazon Prime subscription, there is no subterfuge here.
I seem to have injured some people, I get the stance on Amazon - no one likes the megacorps. But if you're subscribed, I can't see how 'free' GOG games are a bad thing to anyone.
If you're interested, I'm also in a fun Revolt server, where you can find me lurking most days too (if you wanna join Linux, FOSS, gaming chats and the like!!!)
It's SO bright and colorful and pretty, and it really is a lovely combination of genres. I think I got it from GOG, maybe it was redeemed on Epic, but I played it a few months ago and fell head over heels for it. Feels perfect on a handheld, too!
